'Cos he is someone who can loose weight easily has does not have the common sense, empathy and compassion to realise that this is not the case for everyone else.

That is the crux of the matter.

    Small does not equal skinny.
    Big does not equal fat.

Can big girls be beautiful ? Yes.
are obese people beautiful ? in an over all way, No.

there you go again, further proving my point. You refer to it as 'a condition' for a about 5-6 posts and then eventually you reveal what this mysterious condition is.

I DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE TO SPELL IT OUT, IT IS A HIGHLY SENSITIVE SUBJECT TO ME, AFFECTS MY WHOLE LIFE, AND I WAS AFRAID SOMEONE WOULD RECOGNISE ME BECAUSE THIS IS DEEPLY PERSONAL.

Chunks, you are a very nasty piece of work. You are heartless and cold and I cannot respond to you anymore. And don't talk of maturity until you've grown up.

Sorry, but imagine there's a condition you know so much about that causes so much upset etc. that 10% of women have it, and some stranger just throws in a comment like that - well it's insulting to me, I can't help that.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycystic_ovary_syndrome

1/10 have this, does not mean 1/10 can blame it for being overweight, if that were the case then said 1/10 would also have to have all the other POSSIBLE effects by that logic.

I know a girl who has this and has no problem keeping her weight down, in spite of having it badly enough that she was throwing up due to the hormone levels at times, so you'd need a severe case of it to blame this for being overweight.

Chunks, I didn't mention things before because I didn't want anyone to recognise me (you never know). It's a very painful, issue that has taken over my life in the last four years to be more exact and will for the rest of my life. Tell me why I should have to mention more things, that are so personal? I drip fed more each post because I was trying to explain without giving too much away.Trying to answer your comments. You seem to answer for everything and don't seem to have a clue about what a struggle it can be, and I'm just trying to say that if 1 in 10 women have this, then it is really common and therefore there will be a lot of women who can't lose weight no matter what they do and it's really not an excuse. The weight is only one part, the infertility, diabetes, heart disease risks etc. are even more worrying. You just seem so judgmental and it's horrible from my point of view. Why do you say things like I'm immature and trying to make myself look like a victim? If I'm not a victim, then what would you call me? Is it that you think I'm making excuses?

Scooby, it's extremely brave of you to be open about the PCOS - although I'd still say it's entirely naturally for anyone to be a little wary when someone on le interweb claims that there's a medical reason for 1 in 10 women to be overweight.

However... PCOS rates among women have increased in parrallel to obesity rates. Is PCOS increasing weight gain amongst women or is weight gain in women contributing towards more women having PCOS?

And personally an hourglass size anything = super-sexy. An apple size anything = kinda frumpy, and indicates an unhealthy lifestyle. Unhealthy lifestyle = not beautiful. Personally speaking.

Caroline Morahan is about as curvy as sexy goes imo... any chunkier and its too fat.

It all depends where the fat is deposited though. Some woman are lucky and the fat goes to their hips, ass and chest where men like to see it. The woman who have fat hit their arms, legs and waist need to lose it. Nobody likes saddlebags on upper arms or cankles or a overhanging pot belly.

Like others said skinny girls can look as sexy as slightly overweight girls. But its the extremes of either that is unattractive.

Jesus Christ! Go back and read my previous posts on this thread!

When you mentioned your medical condition did I say you were using it as an excuse? NO! I said a lot of people are using 'supposed medical conditions' as a means of not exercising to lose weight.

I'm sorry you have been diagnosed with this condition but
the infertility, diabetes, heart disease risks etc. are even more worrying
this has nothing to do with the thread entitled "Big Girls Are you Beautiful Y/N". the topic fat people vs skinny people. You posted saying you can't lose weight so we discussed it further.... if it was about heart problems and you posted saying the condition you were diagnosed with was related to heart conditions then i'd understand...but it's not so can we stay on topic please.

If you drip fed the info in the posts to hide your identity it doesnt take a genius to go back through your posts and put it all together.

Not giving all of the information in a post and then getting an answer you dont like is well and good but when you do this and then reply with further information to bolster your previous post then it is immature because it makes you look like you're the one being victimised and makes someone (in this case me) come across as the judgemental idiot. I reply fairly to your posts with the information i'm given, I can't read minds(i'm not bulemic)

Please show me where you got that information from? I'd love to know.

Where the hell did you come up with that idea? and you're a mod?

    I exercise 6 days a week because
    a) the sport I play requires it
    and
    b) if i didn't i would not lose un-necessary body fat, I would in fact gain it.

There are a good variety of symptoms. Not everyone has the obesity factor, but I think about 80% do. Not everyone has the infertility factor, but a lot do. Not everyone has every symptom, it doesn't work that way.
I have never thrown up, I don't have a beard, acne etc. I am riddled very badly with cysts, am infertile, depressed, elevated cholesterol, fatigued, overweight (size 14) but not obese yet, probably because I watch what I eat and exercise a lot. I'm annoyed about the weight because I cannot control it and I used to have a lot of control over it. I don't have diabetes yet either. It's different for everyone, but the weight is usually a very common symptom.

I WAS trying to stay on topic, that's why I didn't want to go down this road, but you pushed me. I didn't want this at all.
I was trying to give a good reason why a good percentage of women have a huge genuine difficulty with weight, and also I guess yes, I think there should be more awareness for many reasons, as it is so common, and a lot of women don't even know they have it. But also, it's hard to think that someone looks at you thinking you're a lazy pig or something when you are anything but! It's hard when you feel people make assumptions about you because you're overweight. I suppose I would like even if a few more people could understand.
Also, as I said, I'm sure there are other very common reasons why people find it hard to lose weight, such as thyroid problems, I was just giving a reason I actually know a lot about. Believe me, it wasn't easy, and I didn't want to go into it in any detail, and now I'm very, very sorry I said anything.

    marylin or nicole!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭Wood

Marilyn Monroe was a size 8. she had a 22 inch waist, and a 35 inch bust. wieghed in at about 8 and a half stone and was 5'6" tall, please explain how she is "big".

Nicole richie is in bits though. She's horribly skinny fat nowadays.

I know a few people who have PCOS, most of which tried a low-carb diet to keep insulin levels normal, and lose the weight, and when the weight came off the symptoms got much easier to deal with.

I still dont think you understand. My post to your original post was an attack, not on you, but on fat and lazy people who use supposed medical conditions as an excuse for not exercising and losing weight.

and i'll post it here for everyone to read so they dont have to go back and look for it.
A medical condition is always a different story.

The problem though is the large amount of lazy fat people who say they have a 'medical condition' as a reason they're overweight. If they put as much energy into exercising and eating right instead of hiding behind excuses then they'd find they don't in fact have a 'medical condition' and they were just being fat and lazy.

so please stop being so defensive, the thread isn't a personal attack on you.

Hilarious.. No the original answer to my question was not that they both don't go uphill (which is funny AND true) but that they are both great fun to ride until your mates see you...
