    Hi again guys,
Glad ye got the iPhones, is anyone having issues with YouTube? It will not work for me at all, I have only tried on WiFi, not on EDGE yet though. I have a feeling it will not work though.

What unlock method did you use, am I right in thinking that some of the earlier unlocks disabled youtube but there was a fix for that?
    This article mentions how youtube gets disabled (read update2);

Got mine today from unlock aswell. Met up and picked up the phone no probs. Working well. Anyone got the mereor edge settings?

Anyone got the mereor edge settings?

Meteor has edge? You're going to use Edge on Meteor? I'm sure charges will be sky high! They are the worst in those kind of charges, other then voice calls nothing else is cheap!

I thought EDGE doesnt need separate settings. if meteor offers Edge then all we need is an edge enabled handset to achieve enhanced speeds using the regular gprs connection.

    Isn't this the case!?

Seems everyone got their iPhone except me. Travelled 3 hours to Dublin like they told me and then they never rang. Never answered my call. 3 hours back home again.....with nothing.

I too didn't get it! Only this time I didn't want to be the first to post!

Sorry to hear that Sky and Soldier, mad annoying having come all that way and going back home without the iPhone.

I used the unlock method that is in this post on page 18, it was the fella from unlockthatiphone that posted it up. I must have done something wrong. well annoyed YouTube will not work to be honest.

Hopefully will get it working soon, must PM PowerHouseDan, may he can shed some light.

    Hi guys

I've been lurking here for the past month so it's about time I threw in my piece.
I got my unlocked iPhone over 2wks ago from unlockthatiphone & it's working grand. I'm running Vodafone GPRS & getting 23kbps speed. YouTube works fine, even over GPRS (it takes just over a minute to load) but even better on Wi-Fi. Safari crashes regularly after a few day's use - a hard reboot of the phone together with clearing the cache fixes this for another few days. Maps also crashes every now & again but overall, the phone I got from them (overnight delivery) & their feedback to me has been great.
I'm using the iSkin Revo as a case (3 day delivery from Canada) but whilst looking sharp, attracts dust like you wouldn't believe. I also dropped it after 20minutes of use onto hard tiles which has dinged it but it's working perfectly.
If anyone wants to know anymore, just shout.

I am considering an I-Phone but have a few questions:

    1. Will the I-Phone work with the Nokia Car Kit installed in my car.
    2. If so, can I use it to play the I-Tunes songs over my cars speakers?
    3. If I wand to use the Maps as SAT NAV, will it cost me a call for the journey?

    Cheers.

Hey mhate, I too got a phone from them and all is working fine.

How do I set my phone up for youtube and all the other things to work???

    1. No

    2. You'll need an FM transmitter. iTrip doesn't offically work with the iPhone but apparently it does! Belkin accessories will power your phone as well - just ignore the "flight mode" warning it gives you.

    3. Maps will only give you turn by turn maps & a list of directions (no audio) so it's a "semi-nav." system. Get your route over wi-fi before you go (follow it through to get the maps & directions so when you're on the road, you won't be constantly connecting to get data. Each time you re-open maps, your journey will be displayed. The main thing is to get a data plan with your provider so it doesn't cost a packet when you first get the phone. I've run up an expensive bill until I went with vodafone's mb plan

Hi. My YouTube was working out of the box so I haven't done the process I'm afraid.

Am thinking about getting the iSkin from Revo. I use an iPod Hi-Fi at home and have heard that it does not fit well with it, anyone that has the Revo iSkin, do you use it with an iPod Hi-Fi also? I don't want to have to remove it from the cover everytime I want to listen to music at home.

Does anyone know if there are any remote control headphones that work with the iPhone. Kinda annoying when you have to take it out of your pocket each time to turn volume up and down as well as skip through tracks.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I don't know about the Hi-Fi, but the iPhone with the iSkin Revo fits the 3g/4g ipod dock perfectly without removing the skin. There's a rubber connector at the bottom that you can remove (I've lost mine already) so the iPhone can pop right in.

I'll try my original apple ipod wired remote later & let u know how I get on.

    Oh just fantastic:mad: , this taken from gizmodo;
"Update 3: Pash from Lifehacker tells us the whole third-party app scene has been totally quiet since the 1.1.1 launch. Both new apps and updates to old ones have been stagnant."
The hackers only appear to be workng on iphones that upgraded to the new firmware and want to downgrade back to the old safe firmware but what does one do if they get an iphone pre-installed with 1.1.1?? Is there a way to even just activate a 1.1.1 iphone(all features except phone working)?
I have a chance to get an phone from the states in 3 weeks but by then all iphones will be 1.1.1 and knowing my luck there probably still wont be an unlock for it.

    @ Coillte,
Thanx mate, I have the dock adapter for the 3\4G iPods so I'm sorted there. Does the Revo come with a screen protector apart from the clip on plastic thingy?

I have a remote for my old 4G iPod but it won't work on the iPhone as it has an extra thingy beside the headphone jack.

Ok just to keep the rumour mill going, a mate of mine says his mate who is something to do with Vodafone Ireland says he has seen an email saying that Vodafone Ireland are testing the iPhone!
    Anyone here anymore on this?

    re iskin

It comes with a Privacy Screen Film with anti-glare but it's crap - muck gets caught between the case & the film.
The iPhone screen gets REALLY grubby as it's a fingerprint magnet so it's essential to have the screen cleaner with u at all times.

Yep - headphone remote doesn't work because of the thingie, I forgot it had that.

    Vodafone Settings:

    EDGE

    APN: isp.vodafone.ie
    Username: vodafone
    Password: vodafone

that's what works for me. The live settings don't connect so I'm not sure if i'm getting the cheap live rates however, my data costs have come down significantly by using their 19euro data plan with the above settings.

I didn't hear anything & I know some of the guys. You have to remember that Vodafone are mad into 3G & the iPhone is only a 2.5G device so will never reach the speeds that Vodafone offer.

And don't get me started on text. If you're a power txtr, reconsider the phone & at least try to see one in action as it's really crippled in the text/sms department. No multiple texts; no forwarding; no drafts; no saving... That said, texting is still fun on it & it's a completely different experience than any other phone.

Where on the iPhone do I enter these settings???

I can't find the correct place!!!

Also, do I need to subscribe to EDGE???

    Go to http://i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html
Click on Mobile & check the speed of your iPhone when you're not on wi-fi

    You. Are. A. Legend.

Hundreds of cyber pints heading your way mhate!!!

    Very much appreciated!!!

    Works a dream!!!

I rang Vodafone and I'm on their 25 megs or gigs plan (whichever it is!) for 19 euro. Is it hard to use that much data???

You don't need to subscribe to EDGE. It's just a data standard like 3G.

I haven't tried an Irish 02 sim in my phone yet to see if Im getting faster speeds than Vodafone which I'd imagine I may. Has anyone?

Is it difficult to link my gmail account to my phone?

Just trying to hook it up now.

    Just got it I think...

Will the cost of this be prohibitive (as in cost me more than 70 euro a month?)

I have my phone nearly 3 weeks now & if you check out usage on Settings, it shows the EDGE data that you've used. I've sent 3.1mb & rec. 17.9mb! Actually Vodafone have a plan for a 500MB monthly Add On for just €9.99. That's what I have. I don't want to tell them I have an iPhone so I must check out what the craic is over the weekend (or find someone who'll be impressed with the phone ) to see if they'll let me have the best plan for the phone). It is easy to eat up our data allowance (especially down the pub showing off your new toy).

Gmail is free - how would you spend €70 a month on it? I have a gmail account soley for iPhone use which I access manually, when out & about & if I can, only when on wi-fi. If on edge, remind yourself to check it every hour or so & then data costs will be low (unless you get spammed, hence my email soley for iPhone use).

Gmail was fiddly, took me a few goes. It's all about POP setup on the gmail side, not the phone.
