That must ruin the whole christmas feeling for you, I would hate to have a clock reminding you that far ahead of christmas

No.... what it means for me is that every year when hubby brings the christmas decs up from the cellar, he always says.... 'where did all these new ones come from?'... hahaha, answers on a postcard.......!

Christmas is going to feel a bit strange this year, because we're moving over in 2 weeks - and I have no idea about Irish christmas traditions! Some serious googling is called for soon, I think!

I doubt it differs much from England.

Yes , yes i think the old coke ad was much better than the crap they have now, it was basicly the same when I was growing up and now the new one suck

I love the really old bud ad, with the horses in the snow.... is that bud? I can't remember

I don't think theirs any irish traditions in my house, all we have is we always have a big glass of cream soda and put ice cream in it and let it fizz and drink/eat!

ok - so you get up early in the morning, open pressies, spend ages cooking food & eating it.... the kitchen looks like a bomb site while you play silly games with the family & get drunk??

Cool, same as here then :o)

You need shootin for reminding me of that ad:D

Not strictly tv related but if I don't have my christmas shopping done before I hear Fairy Tale of New York on the radio for the first time (I hate that song with a passion) then I don't bother my hole, shops are always too crowded.

August and September are the best time to do it.

Am I alone in despising the An Poist Chistmas ad, I've hated that every since I was a kid. The guy who sang it must be in his 40's by now. It makes my skin crawl.

I heard that Last Christmas song in Tescos back in the first week of August.... and have heard more xmas songs there since, well before halloween decorations were brought in too. Its mad, in the garden centre near my house, they have xmas trees and Hallowwen stuff side by side since 2 weeks ago! Why cant Xmas advertising only begin in late Nov! Its the same with Easter as soon as St Stephens day is done we will have creme eggs back in the shops and the build up for another money spinning holiday begins again!

    NO IT ISN'T!!!!!!!!!!

This is a major pet peeve of mine; not people moaning about the decorations going up too early (which I believe they are), but people saying that it gets earlier every year. Seriously, it doesn’t.

Think about this: when did you first hear people complaining about this? For me, I remember it happening at least fifteen years ago. Now, if it really were getting earlier every year, wouldn’t we be seeing the decorations for Christmas 2009 or so by now?

To repeat myself one last time: I would be a lot happier about the whole thing if they would only have Christmas ads and decorations in the month of December. But they do not get earlier every year.

I like this ad (and its not that I have loads of funds at Christmas either!). Sort of haunting.

I've always said that Halloween serves one purpose and one purpose only (once your over the age of 11 anyway) and that is as a barrier to all things Christmas before the 1st of Nov.

Now I love Christmas and all things Christmas related but if you start too early your going to be all Christamssed out by the 25th.

Leave it till after Halloween then I'll get involved; shopping, decorations, trees, ads etc.

I'm going skiing for christmas with my parents, brother and boyfriend. We don't have christmas dinner and we don't really give presents either. We just spend it on the apres-ski. It's the best way to do it. We did it last year too so I feel like Christmas doesn't fully apply to me now. It's great!! Bring on the ads.. i don't care!
