Shipping All the Scumbags Off Of The Island

    Is anyone here a fan of the 'scumbags' that seem to be so prevalent in Dublin city? We're always complaining about them here on boards, I and probably you complain about them to your mates etc. No-one really likes them. They are uncouth, unpleasent, threatening etc etc.

    So I have a solution how to deal with them. We round them all up and ship them off to an island off the coast somewhere, or if that's not big enough, several islands. We build whatever necessary facilities are needed, housing, healthcare etc.

    Now obviously it can be hard to distinguish sometimes who's a scumbag and who isn't. I admit that this screening process will be difficult to get right, but it's a start. Basically if you don't contribute to society in a helpful and productive manner, your off to the island. I realise many people will say X, Y and Z don't contribute, but they aren't scumbags and we're dealing with the scumbag issue first.

    I'm not proposing this as a perfect solution, and it still needs plenty of work and refinement, but at least they'd be off of our streets and Dublin will ideally be a safer and cleaner place to be. I realise it's harsh, against many civil and human rights, but they're scumbags, so I can live with it.

    So I ask you, what do you think of the idea of rounding them up and shipping them off. How can we refine the idea into a plausible solution. I know it's not an appealing idea to anyone in power, but screw that!!!

    Years ago, the English used to ship all their "scumbags" off to a large island too. They called it Australia. It seems to have worked out as many people now voluntarily emigrate to the same island!

    No need to ship them off anywhere, or shoot them, just sterilize them.

    Think that'd be the 'british' rather than english... and I think that we would have been part of Britain at that time :D

    Instead of victimising them by shipping them off we should be trying, as a civilised society, to rehabilitate them.

    They are victims already, and therefore should be looked on compassionately.

    Something similar to this came up last night. I was going to post then, but I wasn't really bothered.

    Here's the problem.

    Supply and demand.
    As long as people are willing to buy knock off goods, there will be a scumbag element.
    From the cheap cigarettes on the streets to the heroin dealers to the people who flog stolen gear in markets.
    You could ship off every scumbag, but some entrepaneur would just step in, hire some gullible (that's how it's spelt, folks) kids, who in turn end up getting deeper and deeper into crap and the whole cycle begins again.

    So the next time you buy any of these products, remember that you are funding the scumbag element and keeping them on the streets.

    Aldi and Lidl are there, and are cheaper alternatives.

    Not as cheap of something from 'the back of a lorry', granted, but then people that sell stuff from the back of lorries, are generally scumbags.

    What complete and utter twaddle!! Victims my hole... They dont work, they get free houses and money from the government... and all they do it victimize the good and honest people trying to get by in this country..

    They are a product of a dysfunctional society. A society that both you and I are a part of. These people are just as much part of society as we are.

    We marginalise them on the basis of their address or accent.

    When marginalised, various studies have shown that people tend to react against the society that has marginalised them (The Irish themselves reacted against the British, the native South African population reacted against the Apartheid government etc etc).

    The marginalised are pushed to live in, what are in effect, ghettos, where they have no chance to break the cycle of depression and poverty, which can often lead to a life of crime.

    They are victims of the times, and should be treated as such.

    I think this is obvious to anyone and we don't need to get into the logistics behind it, and just let the boys have their fun and don't read the thread if you are offended easily.

    From this point, if you're going to be offended by the obvious discussion that will follow, don't read the thread. It's not my job to protect your eyes from reading something you find offensive when it's an obvious piss take. You have no right to not be offended and I want to do a test and see how far we go without a reported post. The obvious solution is not to read the thread past this point.

    Look it's a tough solution I know, but we're supposedly civilised human beings so shooting them isn't an option. Also there is no point in shipping them off to some other country. We wouldn't appreciate it if they landed on our doorstep from somewhere else.

    No this is our problem and we deal with it. We have plenty of islands off of the coast or we could purchase a big enough island somewhere else in the world to send them.
    As for who we ship off, we all know a scumbag when we see them and alot of people have them in their area. Like I said we'd need a screening process and I'm sure if we put enough thought into it it could be reasonably effective.

    Do you think once we get rid of them we leave them to their own devices or should we try and give them a way to provide for themselves? I'm not overly keen on the idea of having to pay out continuly for their upkeep so what idea's do you have?

    It is not just Dublin anymore, it is the whole country. We are a suburb of the UK and what ever happens there, eventually happens here, and they are totally out of control in the UK, due to the liberal and PC, softly softly approach towards crime and society, and also parents not taking responsibility in what their kids are getting upto. It can only get worse.

    I'm a scumbag then.
    Well, not yet. Two weeks time though I could very well be.

    So what about students then?
    The ones who get grants. That's a government handout and a fair few of the Maynooth heads pop up in the court pages of the local rag every so often.

    Also, Unemployment benefit is what you get when you have worked.
    Unemployment assistance is what you get when you have no stamps.

    There are some spare islands in the Pacific, the ones that were used for nuclear testing. We could have some of that there extraordinary rendition. The only problem would be, what would the people left in Ireland do with all that free space?:D

    Ah students we can leave alone, while not the most pleasant of people they are far from scumbag material.

    You know the scumbags who only wear sports clothes, so stumble their speech, who drop litter outside of the shop, who have withered faces from a life of drugs and booze, who wear a baseball cap slightly to the side and flared up, who walk with a cigarette hanging from their mouth, who don't have a job and live off of state benefits while multiplying like there's no tomorrow. Oh and the scumbag wimmins who wear pyjama's outside!

    Sure if its minorities were kicking out of the country, lets get rid of a few foriegners too, eh? I mean surely none of them could be classified as scumbags, certainly none of the ones around my area that walk around the streets drinking cans eh?
    Everyone knows its only people in tracksuits and baseball caps that commit crimes
