What sort of things can be done in Trinity FM?
They have a licence to broadcast about four weeks a year. They make d'radio talk.

It's kinda like me playing with my iPod and FM Transmitter, only T:FM goes about 35 feet instead of 30.

What he said, only we also stream online (which is where most listeners will be).

Definitely worth signing up for. We'll be on air during Freshers' Week, so be sure to look really interested and ask lots of questions and we'll bring you up to see the studio in action.

Well actually Trinity FM broadcasts 6 weeks per year. Also TFM broadcasts approximately 2 miles and 35 feet if you want to be smart about it. The majority of TFM's airplay is made up of music, interviews and live in-studio performances. Last year went pretty well in that respect; David Kitt, Republic of Loose, the Immediate, Director, Messiah J & the Expert all stopped by the studio.

Not a chance Bren, certainly not consistently. I've had trouble picking it up beyond the Hamilton. Other days I've picked up a faint whisper almost as far as Dun Laoghaire. I reckon it probably depends on the weather, but generally anywhere near town should be able to pick it up.

Nope - all equipment is provided. Rifle, pellets/rounds, targets, glove, and of course expert tuition.
    I'll join:
Rifle Club - because they're the best sport club on campus. And their website is awesome.

DUCSS - because they're the best society on campus. And their website is awesome.

The phil - because they have interesting stuff on, and they feed me during freshers week.
The hist - because I wish I joined last year.
    Swimming club - maybe.

I just had to quote this. Really? But I suppose it's a good thing. (You saw it implode right?)

Implode? Kinda like the time that (insert other blown out of proportion comment about something that is exaggerated to the point of extremism).

    Don't over-react.

There was something going on, committee politics, that I didn't really care about. That's the implosion?

I just thought they had some cool debates.

/can of worms (but serious question).

In the off chance that you were referring to being a member of Sinn Fein and being a member of DURC - there is no problem.

You cannot join DURC and be a member of a proscribed organisation, and while I don't agree with the sinners, they are not a proscribed information.

Is there a Sinn Fein Soc this year?

As far as I know yes. I'm not sure what happened after that whole "Chair sending out dodgy stuff over email list" incident when they lost their rooms for 6 months though.

Erm, any hetrosexual guy with a clue joins the dance soc. Pretty and attractive women outnumber guys like 5 to one. Dancing is usually held on a friday night. If I have time I'll be going again this year.

Btw its a mix of dance

Yeah, I never got around to joining dance soc - might join this year, with the intention being I may be able to actually waltz by the time the strauss ball comes around :)

I think the OP was referring to a 'classical' ball, BESS ball is normally a piss up in Redz or where ever, albeit in blacktie

Ye're forgetting a pretty big (unmentionable on boards) one no?

Bess ball, law soc ball, science ball. They're all the same loada mehs... i.e. I've never been arsed going to any of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,228 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

bess ball is normally in a hotel - give it a little more crdit than redz...

I think the OP was referring to a ball with orchestra and all that.. the unmentional ball, BESS ball, etc do not have that

Now why on earth would you assume that? Unless you know them? I saw nothing in the post to indicate. It's really all just an excuse to get wankered anyway, no-matter how pretentiously.

Uh, the BESS Ball is nothing like that. It's held in a fancy hotel (Burlington?), there's a seat-down meal, ice-sculptures, champagne, great decor and other such fancy things.

Because he was asking about Dance soc, and its ball, which is a full on classical ball, and great craic..

Lets open to this the floor then..

In my view, a 'ball' is one where there is an Orchestra, evening wear and classical dancing etc.
    Example: Strauss ball

The BESS/Certain ball which falls in the third term/Halls Ball etc are really just (again in my opinion), to quote Dec, pretentious ways to get pissed, as there is no dancing per se.

Does anyone else make such a distinction?
