True and i got tickets for the balcony on the second night. And i know a few other people that did too. Also as far as i know they have material for a DVD but it's been put on hold. And like Bubs mentioned it was recorded in hometown chicago.

Right so what exaclty is your point?
They haven't sold out and tickets have been on sale 3 days? Wow. I'm glad they don't have the same hype as other bands and anyway what has that got to do with anything. If they had sold out and you'd wanted tickets you'd probably be crrying about that.

I'm delighted to see them play a really small venue. And delighted that they're are still tickets left, if jeff can play vicar street i'm sure the band can fill it up too.
People were putting the fact it wasn't sold out yet down to the fact it hadn't been advertised, my point was that it was all over the internet and I'm sure most Wilco fans have heard at this stage so I didn't see that as the big reason. And I found it surprising that tickets were still on sale. In fact this thing of not advertising can be better than advertising itself as word gets out on the internet and i'm sure some people almost impulse buy because they "are in on something". All that said I'm guessing they must be close to sold out now?

No one mentioned it selling out until you did, then people responded to it suggesting the reason it hadn't sold out in 36hours could be down to lack of advertising - A fair point. And then you replied to this. Once again i ask what is your point? If you have none don't bother replying, i'm already way too bored of this exchange.

I have friends who didnt know it was onsale until i mentioned it in passing last night, and they're big Wilco fans. So if they didn't know......

I do agree with the point that no advertising may be better so that "real fans" might get they're hands on tickets first. But gigs are about selling tickets, the faster the better so its unlikely it'l catch on.

And whether it'l sell out completely or not, who really knows, but if it was advertised on the scale most gigs are, there'd be a hell of a lot more tkts sold. But i'm sure the posters etc will be up in a few weeks.

Well I do apologise for boring you, how stupid of me to to try to engage in a discussion on a discussion board  If you had your facts right then it might be a good start. First mention of the gig selling out was not by me it was by Toast and now you are most certainly boring me.

Thats pretty hilarious it was done like this though its nice to see them not sell out in 5 minutes. I dont actually care too much for Wilco but picked up tickets for the inevitable slew of my friends who'll be looking for some after it sells out.

Toast pointed out that it was going to sell out eventually. Yours was a nothing remark about it not having sold out yet and you wondering why a day after tickets went on sale. Can you see the difference? If you want to have a discussion about a gig not beinf sold out, you need a hobby or something better to do with your time. Now roll you eyes and shoo.

In all fairness, It's not as if all Wilco fans use internet message boards which is the only place I've heard the concert being mentioned so far

So Wilco are playing in Brussels on Nov 6th and the tickets are €27

The gigs in Ireland are over €40 ??? Pretty big difference

Concerts in Ireland are generally more expensie than anywhere else. It's sickening but i've come to terms with it...

Theres a bunch of reasons but the main one is we are the second richest country in the EU and our populace is more than happy to throw money at gigs so its not surprising.

Also the larger promoters have a habit of subsidising gigs with other gigs by upping the price on "sure things" to pay for stuff they lose money on. In a strange way this actually works to our advantage as it means they take more risks bringing bands over who they may not otherwise but it means someone like Wilco may be classed as more likely to be able to absorb a larger ticket fee in one country over another.

What surprises me is that the super furry animals in the same venue is 8 euros less and they would be probably more popular and well known than Wilco. I don't mind paying the extra money if the band are getting more than usual as they did release yankee hotel foxtrot for free a few years ago :D

I don't get ya? You don't mind the extra money if the band are getting more of what than ususual?

Yankee was officially releases in 2002, but was recorded in 2000 so it's more than a few years ago!

More wonga for them of course. I presume bands negotiate different percentages with the promoter and since Tweedy practically sold out vicar st. on his own they were in a good position.

seems like only a few years to me since they released it for free! Also seems like a few years since I saw them in whelans on the being there tour. Best. Gig. Ever.

You saw them in 97 in whelans? That's pretty impressive! Yankee seems like an age ago to me. I don't know why...
