Hmmm. Do you have to go to the Lotto HQ to organise your prize? Wont the press have it surrounded.

How the hell did that happen?
Surely the shop could check the time and check the CCTV and identify the winner that way.

Afaik, you have 90 days to claim the prize. Or it goes back into the pot
A lot of begrudgers on this thread, shame on you!

    Bastards.

Nice to see begrudgery in it's rawest form.

Fairplay to whoever won it, hope they enjoy it, hope they've the good sense to remain anonymous and I hope they answer my begging letters...

Sure Mike, Waterford is part of the sunny south east or so we learned in school.
Therefore, you don't need lotto money to cheer you up with all the good weather down there.:p

    4-13-29-32-35-37 bonus 20

I'll bet the winner was a rich scumbag farmer with relatives who were arrested for various minor offences.
Totally undeserving of the win IMHO.

Wouldn't it be funny if it was one of the Roma who bought it before they were shipped home
They could buy millions of roses and plastic cups

Northern Bank in Donegal Square, Belfast were able to handle a single withdrawal of over 16 million in cash a couple of years back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,736 ✭✭✭OctavarIan

Well it wasn't me anyway. I just hope the winner is someone who can put it to good use and not some elderly farmer who will keep living normally but enjoy 'the stresses of life being gone'.

The winning ticket is inside my workplace, pinned to a notice board.

I wish. Problem is, I can't remember what the numbers were and I keep thinking 'It could be....' Stupid lotto messing with my head!

I had a quick look allright Cooperguy - don't think we stopped by the right newsagents on this occasion.

    - Thats ok though, I think if we won big on our first night it would have piss€d too many folks off......Best to do these things gradually :p

I'm in the South, and forgot to play tonight. Damn.

    Congrats to the winner.

Curses, I'm 17, I could have won if I was a year olded and got the right numbers /joke.

Seriously congratulations to the winner, hope they don't waste it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

I just hope the winner is <= 27, spends the money is a reckless fashion and joins the 27 club in the most original way possible. it's what I wanted to do

It wasn't me either. I had 20 Euros worth of quick picks, and I got a 1 Euro scratchcard back apparently. There's always the 2 syndicates at work I entered too, hopefully!

Wish the winners the best of luck, remember reading a few sad stories in the papers regarding the lives of some of the big lotto winners in the past.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,449 ✭✭✭Call Me Jimmy

even though I don't play the lotto, I always think I'm in with a chance, always disappointed when I find out I didn't win it.

Bet they're from Cork. Big winners are always from Cork. Most Winning Streak contestants come from Cork. I'm moving to Cork...

I think you might have to be 18 to play the lotto, sure it is gambling after all.
If that's the case imagine if someone reported you and the Lotto withheld the money.
Now there's a kick in the teeth!

Age limit may be 16 though-it isn't explained on the website.

Another interesting fact is you can't pay for the lotto with your credit card. Store manager told me there was some rule to stop people borrowing money to gamble. Makes sense I suppose

Hmm, I played in Charleville the other day. Must check my numbers, :D

According to RTE Update, the winner is y/o from Cork.

Also says the Lotto have had no contact from the winner yet...

He/She played a e4 quick pick (tight git).

Chances are,the winner could be in Dublin today for the Cork match....

/Leaves work to go and find 22 y/o Cork people....

How do they know how old they are if they haven't had any contact from them?

€16 million is a bit much for a 22yo in my opinion. :(

    Here's one I found Link

And who doesn't remember the ultimate chav?! Mikey Carroll

I don't think winning the lottery is all it's cracked up to be, especially not such a big amount. The odds are ridicuously against you and there's a reason why the National Lottery is one of the (if not the) only semi-state bodies earning economic profits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

Yea but I'm not a chav, so I wouldn't be a chav if I won the lotto.

Do you think Mickey Chav was an upstanding member of society before he won the lotto? No, he was a broke chav, then he became a chav with money.

I never said you were Rigger, I'm just pointing out that it's not all happiness and bliss. I only linked to Mikey Carroll because he was the first person that came into my head (btw the link doesn't seem to be working anymore). Not a problem with playing the lotto, it's just something I don't think I'll ever be interested in. Rather try and earn those big bucks myself! ;)

Yea, you're better off. :) The last 2 lotto draws were the first I've played in years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,485 ✭✭✭Thrill

At least it seems like it was a large family that won it rather than some rich farmer etc....

Got 3 numbers on one line which, as far as I can tell, means I won a fiver. A fiver! A lousy........ feckin'........ fiver! I didn't even win back the price of the ticket (€8) for Christ's sake.

And there was me all ready to put that order in for that Ferrari and everything! :D

Just watched the RTE 6 o clock news and and they have a reporter harrassing the shop owner and locals using the shop where the winning ticket was bought and managed to tease a few people into saying it was a local couple in their 50's with 5 kids. Unsurprisingly the couple have no comment.

How f**king unfair is that? If they want to go public Im sure they will. Leave them alone ! How would the reporter feel if the shoe was on the other foot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

how unfair is it that we have to see another thread in after hours about the lotto.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,367 ✭✭✭Agamemnon

    In before merge.

Yeah, if the identity of the winner is revealed, they'll be snowed under with begging letters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

I'll voice my conspiracy here rather than making a new thread.

The Lotto is rigged in favour of boggers. Discuss.
