    Now available.
For iPoker players who use Poker Tracker. This tool allows you to gather statistics on players without actually sitting at a table and playing with them. Gold Mine grabs the hands from the iPoker client of any window you have open and stores them on your computer ready for Poker Tracker to import.

Just downloaded and tried to install the demo and am getting an error message .... Goldmine.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Gold Mine sends the hand histories you mine to our servers. This data is sent anonymously; the hand histories we receive cannot be linked to the user who mines them.
Your going to have some database to work with. Nice:)

Is this what it does then mr.F, it is slightly off-putting tbh if it does?

I got the application to install ok btw, for some reason the first few times I downloaded it it didn't download fully.

As the sole programmer of Gold Mine I can assure you that this is not (yet) the case. From version 2.1 the plan is to have two versions; one that uploads (slightly cheaper) and one that doesn't upload (as version 2.0).

Edit: I've been told that the current version 2.0 is priced at the low opt-in version that uploads HHs. So until version 2.1 comes out ye get a nice discount. Once version 2.1 is out the subscription code can be used with the opt-in version. At that point you can upgrade to the opt-out version that doesn't upload HHs if you want.

It is. A version which doesn't send hands back to the server is available for those put-off.

The uploading of hands is given a low priority when mining. We ensure that if you have a slow connection or are mining a lot of tables that your mining isn't interfered with. And as jacQues says, this functionality isn't implemented yet.

Xp. Anyway as I said in the last post it hadn't downloaded fully the first few times I tried. I closed a few apps and it worked, could have just been something to do with my system, I've installed it and the demo worked fine.

Just thinking about it a bit more, I suppose it's not a huge big deal for the individual user, can imagine it'd be highly beneficial to you guys though, but fair play for using your know how I suppose. ;)

On the subject of datamining do you reckon it makes more sense to have a seperate pt database for mined hands so as not to clog up your usual database?

I don't think this would be folks concern Fibble. It's more to do with you getting your hands on HH and building a huge database which you could feasibly use. I thought about this myself when I did the hand converter. People might not actually realise that when they use the hand converter they are uploading the file to talking-poker. Once finished with I delete these files. Maybe it's a case of more fool me but I would expect blue murder if I kept these files. Hmmm maybe I should keep them :)

Where was this part of the functionality advertised. IMO it's ridiculous.

Can you explain the reason for adding that functionality into the dataminer?

The plan is to offer people pre-mined hands in the future. As Gold Mine doesn't yet upload the hands this service won't be available for a while.

In all honesty I thought you were doing that. Very honourable of you not to.

i wonder if that's one of the reasons fuzz never converts his hands.

my issue is that you are building a huge DB which you
then sell on to the masses.

where is the assurances that what is been uploaded is done so anon.

if ppl using goldmine are datamining tables where i am playing then my plays are no longer anon as i presume only the person running your tool is anonymous upon time of upload.

IM not loving this at all

I don't understand. The person uploading hands to the servers do so anonymously. The players at the tables being datamined have their screen names recorded. This is the point of datamining.

    It is your choice.
    Note:
    - a version is available that doesn't upload hands.
    - this service (offering premined hands) is already available for all other major networks in one form or another and is nothing new.

Yes, press the <Pause> key on your keyboard. Gold Mine will halt execution. Then you can unpause by pressing the <Pause> key again. Gold Mine will resume mining immediately.

You can press the pause key on your keyboard to stop it temporarily when you need to do something. Then when you press pause again to start it it will read any hands which are in the dealer window so you don't miss any hands even though it is paused.

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback. Its nigh impossible to know how much use people get out of it without being told.

Interested in getting this, but I want to use is for noble poker.

I see on the website it say
The following clients have been tested with Gold Mine:

    Carlos Poker
    Green Joker Poker
    Paddy Power Poker

If you are experiencing problems we suggest using a one of the above. We cannot guarantee compatibility with other clients.

Should I have any problems with Noble?
Any way of checking in advance?

It works with Noble when the tables are made small. Or can open accounts for free on any of the fully compatible networks and use it just for mining.

I was wondering is there much of a market for these kinds of software Fibble? And for datamined hands? I've never paid any attention to their existence for other networks. I'm just curious. And well done to yourself and Jacques for creating something useful.

It doesn't seem huge and I wouldn't quit my day job for it. But like low stakes poker, its a nice hobby.
