I haven't logged on to boards, or played poker much recently. My original fix, the horses, were running around a bit lately.

I'm shocked to hear Luke left the Fitz.

The memories are flooding back. He was the motor behind poker in the Merrion. I loved the way he gave his rulings. "I'll listen to the dealer first, then the players in the hand can have their say". When he ruled almost everyone agreed with the decision.

At the Gutshot a few years ago I didn't have the £500 for the main event, and was walking back to my hotel, when I met Luke. "Where are you going?" ... "If you want to play I'll lend you the cash". I played, and Luke was on my table. He can play.

On the few occasions when I won in the Fitz, and asked Luke what I should leave for the dealers, Luke always said "there is no obligation / you can leave whatever you want".

I hope he has a plan, and I hope he stays in poker in Dublin.

I believe his calm, and class, have shown many poker beginners how they should behave.

Luke - You are the best in the business. You will be sadly missed and we will support you in whatever you take on in the future.

I cant add anything that hasnt already been said.
    Luke is the nuts.
The fitz is a lot worse off without him.

i never played a huge amount in the fitz, but anytime i did i was always amazed at how good luke was at his job.

its not often you see someone in managment who can balance being on good terms with all the staff and customers with commanding their respect and maintaining authority,i've certainly never been in a cardroom that was as well run as the fitz under luke.

i'm sure this is the fitz's loss, and hopefully we'll see luke back on the scene soon,if he set up his own place it'd be great, but whatever he ends up doing i hope it'll go well for him.

I wasn't going to post on this as the view of anyone in their right mind must be that Mr. Ivory is in a different league but since Bernie is supporting Luke then I have to say that wherever she goes I will follow! Its true, I have a kinda crush on Mark's mum!

    Onwards and upwards! Away!

    Terrible loss to the Fitz.

It's not only within Ireland that Luke and his knowledge of the game is held in such high esteem:

Shocked I am. More shocked than the time I stuck my willy into a 3 phase socket.

Luke leaving is an enormous loss, and the main reason I ever played in the Fitz. I have no doubt that he'll pop up somewhere else very soon.

    Hopefully in Galway..... :)
