That's fair enough leaving them there , the kids are with relatives. Apparently they still just think they're on holiday, so bringing them off would probably just disturb them.

But listening to the news this morning, the quote from her father was very odd.

The jet was provided FOC by the chairman of Topshop afaik, as it was the fastest way to & back from rome so they wouldnt be away from their other kids as long.

I happen to think that its a good thing that the media are keeping the 'Maddy' story alive & in the spotlight, for sure this particular child is no more special to you or me than the man in the moon, but the reason it has struck a cord with everybody is because we are all aware that it could so easily have been one of our own kids that had been abducted (or even one of us) when we were that age!

I just hope that this very sad & moving story is getting the same publicity in mainland Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Holland, etc) because its quite possible that this is where she has been taken ?

Well I suppose it could happen to any of us, I mean I remeber during the last 18 months a child in the UK being grabbed out of her bath and molested and then left out on a street naked, but I suppose at least she was let go. Its a sad sick world we live in. I know the parents are going to visit Italy Spain and Morroco (I think), I have a bad feeling that she could be in northern Africa, as one woman spotted a child fitting her description, if that is the case not much hope for her as there are loads of Peados there.

would you like if someone branded you an idiot , after your child was abducted .. they admitted they made a mistake first time ... but leaving there children with relatives for a night , hardly deserves to be labelled "idiot" .. if you knew anything about parenting , 99.9999 % of parents will leave children over night, with relatives at some stage during there chilhood, and if they don't its pure over protectionism.

I have to say, while as said previously its an awful situation, the celebrity-sation (yes, I know its not a word

) of the parents, much of it by their own hand, is going too far. Are we going to see them at film premieres, their appearance raising the case profile? Opening shopping centres? Why are they going to Rome and other European cities when one of the few possibly credible leads suggests Morocco?

I think it really sums up the stupidity of the general public. Bebo chain mails wont bring her back. She is not in the hands of someone who uses your local Spar, therefore the missing person photo is irrelevant.

how do you know so much ? (its probably in my profile) but in all fairness if a sibling of mine was taken i wouldnt inflict it on another country, I wouldnt want so much media attention, the posters are fine, some newspaper coverage is fine, but tv ads and it being in the news every day isnt, if this was a 14 year old chinese/african boy nobody would have heard , its because its a small white blonde girl

I never said it was related , but if i want to verbally attack or make fun of a vulnerable group , most sane people would have a go at me .

thats a good point thebaz. This thread would have been closed long ago if the vitriol had been directed at an ethnic group. That t - shirt is distasteful but not really surprising. Bless him, StephenC_IRL probably doesn't know any better.

What started out as perhaps a valid point regards media coverage has turned into people posting just for shock value. I have to say media coverage pales into comparison with "i said something controversal, look at me" comments.

how does it pale in comparison???? the media are taking advantage of vulnerable people and exploiting a little girl being missing..........the people here(maybe me included) are un-important internet users who hide behind anonymity to make shocking comments if the media was one person then i can see the comparison but seen as it is not and should have the "moral" fortititude to not take advantage of such situations makes what they are doing much much worse

well ill admit im looking for the shock value, on the other side of that this thread was started for people who are sick of the media whoring, and some people like snake forgot that and tried to make it a pro maddie thread. I admit its a tragedy but all this media coverage is doing nothing, the parents being videod with the pope will have no effect on anything, Im sick of the disproportionate amount of meid coverage this story receives, its only because its a little blonde girl that its gone on so long, sky are having a field day, im sick of it, so this is my way of expressing my views, with tshirts, and I will donate any money made to a charity for helping IRISH ! children in some way (barretstown, bernardos etc...)
