The only solution is to have all our kids wearing childtracker 2000, 24 hours a day.7 days a week.

right so loads of kids go missing everyday, don't you think getting at least one back is a good thing? if that means lots of media attention for a few weeks then who are ya to begrudge her or her family that?? if she has been grabbed by a paedo ring, can you imagine what they are doing to that poor child??

Read PeakOutput's post a few pages back and particularly this point:
now even though this is the most likely outcome we do not pour money and effort into stopping whatever criminal ring did this in the first place and did all the other tradgedies around the place we pour the money and effort into a futile attempt at giving ONE family a happy ending at the expense of numerous others that do not fit in with our social / economic / geographical standing.

Thats the problem with huge threads, people dont bother even reading back a couple of pages, let alone the whole thread, before making their point.

No its not. They should put this much attention on a lot more than just one child.

if ur fed up watching it on the news then turn it off and don't read that page of the paper...not much effort really.

Thats a bit hard to do when the ****ing story is everywhere you go. Theres a lot more news worthy of front pages and news station headlines, this should at least be relegated to the middle of a news bulletin by now. Just stop running this boring story until something of actual relevance happens.

I think it's funny that the title of this thread says the OP is sick of the missing Madeline case and the thread is still going on long after the media hoohaa :D

yeah that is the problem with huge threads, didn't bother reading past the first two pages...sounded like a load of crap to me!

i think any parent (not that i am one) would do everything and anything to highlight their kid going missing. just becuase loads of kids go missing and it doesn't get publicised, doesn't mean this one or the next one shouldn't!

whatever kids they can get back they should.

Does anyone else find it odd the way people are just throwing money at them. Why doe people do that especially to the upper middle class? The balance on the fund account currently stands at £313,091.17 (accoding to website).

WTF are they gonna do with it and the TWO (according to sky) planes they've been offered.

something about the way the father talks makes me suspicious I think it might go all the way to the top.

I read today that they're meeting the bloody pope now.

The pope was ruled out of the picture straight away because it's a girl. Maybe Father Pants Down has her

Yeah I've said it before but there is something seriously suspicious about the father. Before you start bashing me, just watch him at the next "conference" they do. He's too laid back, fielding questions as if he was a PR professional. Something is not right there.....

Have a look at his new blog on the website .... http://www.findmadeleine.com/

    Tis all very strange...

"A Day In The Life of the McCanns"???? What the **** is this coming to at all? You'd swear that her parents see themselves as some sort of celebrities over all the media attention.

I wonder does the Pope have some secret cave type place where he has a command centre? If he does then they are in luck, I'm sure a quiet word will bump their cause up to the top of his list....oh hang on no thats Batman.

A single mother from Tallaght or the British equivalent brings her kids on holidays to Spain. Every night she leaves them (All under 4) in the hotel room with the patio door open so she can go boozing and dancing. One of her kids is lifted.

Can you honestly see her visiting the Pope, getting wads of cash thrown at her or having her kids video shown at a major sporting event? It wouldnt happen. People would villify her. She'd be stuck back home in Dublin trying to get more information with none of the luxuries these people have been afforded.

This thread seems to have gone the same way as the Sky News saturation-story that it set out to criticise, endlessly repeating the same old pros and cons for the past two weeks. I think that Whiskeyman is really Rupert Murdoch.

It must be time to have this thread split into chapters, indexed and put on it's own website!

Yeah the mother is taking it a lot harder you can see the strain in her face, father doesn't seem to be as affected by it, maybe he's just a stronger person, but I don't know.

I believe its getting out of hand ... Yes, its terribly sad that young child has been kidnapped, but its happens every minute of every day.

I do hope some good comes of this, if only to highlight the danger to parents

The McCanns settle down for their Monday night dinner.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 334 ✭✭DeBeere

Just seen a tv ad dedicated to the return of madeline, set just like one of those trocaire ads...

I don't know how they expect her to make her way to Ireland/England with all this media attention, therefore how would we have spotted her....

Yeah i dont get it either!

Wouldnt you think that theres more brakng news than "Vatican confirms Madeline's Parents will meet pope on weds"

Their spokeman said they don't want to be treated any differently than any other couple in this situation??! WTF

This is actually becoming sick. Songs on the radio, meetings with the pope and now a tv ad. This is an insult to all those families of missing persons. I'm sure they are wondering why their loved ones didn't get this sort of treatment.

    Indeed.

The whole thing is getting tiresome alright, especially now that her parents are doing something similar to what the McCartney Media Whores did. Sure, keep the case in the media, but all this attention is ridiculous, there's so many kids going missing as this whole thing goes on, thousands dying in Africa and other impovrished countries etc.

Regardless, I've sympathies for the family and what has happened, but it's just another missing child and providing it was an international pedophile ring who took her, tbh she'd probably be better off dead what with the damage (physical and mental) she'd suffer from a heap of old, dirty men doing a train on her.

Eh? It's still getting plenty of 'hoohaa', and believe me, I'm trying my best to avoid it!

It seems as there are less and less developments in the actual investigation we're getting all these bizarre side stories - meeting the pope, remixed songs, tributes etc...
I wonder whats the odds on a Madeline themed song getting to No.1 in the charts?

No. Oh wait, that hasn't gone missing too, has it?
Breaking News: £1m reward for Missing Madeline billboard. Ace of Bace release remixed 'I saw the sign' single.

Nothing seems surreal anymore about this.
