If you arrive the morning the festival begins, expect to be in the rear end of the field.

Last year I arrived during the evening the night before and I was at the halfway point pretty much. It does fill up fast, though it's quite a wide field. You shouldn't be walking for too long. :)

It's funny, the Belgians I talked to think €130 is expensive. That and the fact that the festival has never been a sell out... madness.

Yeah my rough guess-timate for the festival is 140 (ticket) + 70E (flights) plus 100E spending money. Thats 310e and im headin into brussels after for 2 days and stayin in ahostel for 25e a night, right in the city centre!
Im flying into brussels on the wed morning then heading to the festival that evening, so we'll have a day to set up and start drinking.
For 6 days of fun thats a great price
    I cant wait now!

100 euro spending money!! I knew I was an alco.

There's now a news section on the site. Interesting!
I have now convinced 7 of my mates to come as well, it started with only 3 of us going.
Do you pay for drink tickets in the festival or something, is it the same with food?

Yep. One drink ticket for €1 and drinks are €2. Bear in mind they are half pints... or slightly smaller than half pints.

The absolute worst thing about this festival imo (and probably gripe I have) is that they don't provide free drinking water. Shít, I had to go to the ambulance tent previously 'cos I was so dehydrated, thankfully they had water there. :)

But a little cup of water (the pure stuff) will set you back €2.

Same for food, one food ticket for €1 with typical festival food prices on offer.

Did they have taps at Rock Werchter? I couldn't remember them having any.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places. There were campsite taps but the water wasn't suitable for drinking, or so the signs there said.

There should be a new announcement on Tuesday, and I'll probably have my flights booked by then.

Really looking forward to this. So many acts I wanna see. Has anyone bought tickets from the proximusgoformusic site before? I wanna book my ticket but I'm worried about them delivering to Ireland. Can anyone appease my fears?

Want to book the flights but really need to know what the bus situation is. I've actually had to put up a post on the Rock Werchter forum since the information seems to be completely nonexistant. Or in complicated Dutch.

Hi Freaks. What exactly do you mean by Bus situation? If you fly in to Charloi there is a return bus for 20 Euro to Brussels central. From there you just hop on a train which is included in the price of your festival ticket to Hasselt. If you fly in to Brussels airport im pretty sure you can get a train straight to the festival from there. If you are planning to fly into Holland first im not too sure what the situation is.

    That's what I'm doing.

There were definetly buses between Eindhoven and Hasselt last year, but since my buddy and I will need to avail of them before the festival period, I'd like to be sure there's a regular service before booking flights and a hotel.

And just so you know, if you're flying to Charleroi, all the transport you should have to pay for is the aiport transfer to the train station. From there on, once on the train, travelling is free within the festival dates. :)

Yeah when I was there last year I remember a load of Irish lads who had been to Eindhoven for "supplies". They said it was easy enough to get their and back and one of my mates even contemplated heading early on the Thursday for an hour. The train included in your ticket thing is brilliant. You would never see that kind of sensible thinking at festivals over here. The only bad thing is queing for the trains home on the sunday morning. So far I have a group of 10 people confimed to go but could end up with about 20 by August. Should be a great weekend.

Yea, I'm sure there will be buses during the festival period but since I plan to head down to Hasselt on the Tuesday night, I'd like to make sure.

Sonic Youth are playing Daydream Nation in full at this, which is cool since I didn't get to catch the last half of it at Primavera Sound.

**** it, just booked flights there... wanted to get in on the Ryanair €20 off sale. Oddly enough the Charleroi flights around the dates are still way cheap, like €75 return w/ taxes. The Eindhoven flights however, are just going up and up. In the end I paid €130 round trip.

Third time at Pukkelpop, looking forward to it. :)

Good stuff, we should have a meet. :)

    You'll find a camping spot... somewhere. It's a big field. ;)

There are small supermarkets around Kiewit but you'd probably want to leave an hour spare with the amount of walking involved. You could always stock up in Hasselt before hand, which would probably be a better idea since the nearer you are to the festival, the more likely the local shopkeeps have shamelessly hiked up their prices.

I think the music starts between 11:00 and 12:00.

    #Elites wrote:
Fre@k, whats the deal with drink on the campsites? doesn't really explain it on the site, like can we bring as much as we want /glass?

I'm pretty certain you can bring in as much as you want, but deffo no to glass, and they will search your bag.

New bands and stage breakdown are online. And the Chateau is back!

Looks like the worst of the clashing will be on the Thursday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭MikeHoncho

Yeah it all looks a bit clashtastic but if I remember rightly from last year they kind of spread the bands out time wise pretty well. So there might be a forty minute gap between NIN and Tool in which you could nip off and catch a bit of Sonc Youth etc.

Eagles of Death Metal second band on Thursday great way to kick start the festival:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

It certainly has one of the nicest timetables of the European festivals. Sets don't have the tendency to overlap with one another; when an act finishes up on one stage the next act starts on another, etc. You'll still have to decide between the acts on the stages that clash however, but at least you can watch their whole set without missing the next batch of acts.

You should definetly be able to see all of Sonic Youth between Nine Inch Nails and Tool as the Marquee and Main Stage don't clash, at least in the two previous years I've gone.

If there's an average of 8 acts per stage then there's about 20-25 names left to be announced I reckon.

Yea, on the Wednesday they will open the dance section of the festival site for what they call "Boiler Parties". In fact throughout the festival the Boiler tent will keep going after all the other stages have finished up. Like, until 5am or so.
