As an ex ranger I would like to point out that each garduating class gets the option of choosing its own insignia. also what goes on tour stays on tour - and with the black ops that I cant get into here we seldom wear them anyway.

As a matter of interest Jason, would you actually wear tags on duty or do you lads have to remain unidentified?

i dont know why you are disappointed? you have got to have realised that people on this site have had friends/family in the Defence Forces and/or rangers and some of them may have been killed or injured in the line of duty, and you come along spouting this rubbish, if you are not going to "pretend" to be in army why put it on your dog tags? why not just put Liverpool FC or some other symbol - why the rangers?

You're right, some people have family in the Defence Forces and whom may have been killed, yet don't find the OP's question to be disrespectful. Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and shut the fcuk up

Sorry to hijack the thread, but did the Lutwaffe from WW2 have dog tags?

Yet again you show your complete and utter lack of knowledge.

Have you "dog tags" Not likely, go ring RDFRA and ask to get an RDF ID card, it will be sent out and there will be a passport sized pic of you on it too and your Unit and RDF number.

That is an RDFRA ID card. A union card per se. An RDF card would be issued by the Dept of Defence, or the Defence Forces.

Personnel going overseas are issued dog-tags. Have you finished making a fool of yourself now?

Where do RDFRA get their money? It's members. You don't get a card if you are not a member. Just because you are in the RDF does not make you a member. The cards are not "on issue". Dog tags are.:D

Don't call me son, I'm at least 10 years older than you.

This is what you said - "Hey im in the RDF, Status: Current. The RDF/PDF do not have "Dog Tags" and i do not think the ARW do either."

You make it sound as if your USMC. "Status : Current" What a laugh! :D We've just proven that you were talking out your arse.

RDFRA do not provide an RDF ID card, if they did, non members of RDFRA who were members of the RDF could get one.

I've seen those guys on duty on the M50, what happens if you go missing, how would they idenify you ;)

I'm going to buy dog tags and get information embossed on it but every army has a different format. I want to get mine with all the information that an Irish Army Ranger would have, same layout etc etc

The problem is, I dont know the layout and information that would be on one. I can get the information and layout of the US and UK but nothing on Irish Defense Forces.

Pure Walter Mitty - if you wan't a Ranger dogtag - join the PDF (if that's what you really want), apply for selection, pass it (not an easy feat, if you've seen the Cosantoir article), then you'll be fully entitled to get tags.

Seriously annoying to see posts like this ...

I'm assuming you're lookin for them just to look cool or for something to brag about, if that's not the case, apologies.

    No you don't.

Yes testicle, the RDF 'do' have identifications cards - but we only get these (mostly useless) cards if we join the (mostly useless) union. Not worth the deduction in wages each Summer I might point out.

Yup, this is true. Nice long thread on this on the IMO forums no so long ago. Living in Newbridge I see alot of people wearing DPM walking around the town - complete scum with the DPM trousers and celtic jersey (true story) - but this law is never enforced as far as I can see. Hate it.

I dont care for you or your age Testicle. You need to relax, how am i saying that im part of the USMC? Please get over yourself it's not me looking for ( dare i say it ) Dog Tags, that are mostly worn by ( dare i say it again Testicle? ) The Yanks.. So what if i said my status is current? I am "currently" in the RDF, is everything American sounding to you? You know there are "alot" of people in the RDF but are not "current" sure they are on the books but when it comes down to it alot of them were just in to make a quick buck and get out and are just names in a book and have prob not even returned to the RDF, ive seen it happen so they wouldnt be "current" i know its USMC sounding to you.. you need to stop being so....well.....Testy.....:D

remember "current" is just a word, try have a nice day.
