Hehe.I reckon we should have a competition for the funniest camapign poster.

Does anyone remember a couple of years ago some guy whose poster consisted of him wearing a bullet proof vest with 'stop the paedophiles' as his slogan. So random and so funny.
Clifford T Reid - he ran for East [Leinster] constituency in the European elections in 2004.

Former President of Students' Union at Carlow Institute of Technology.
IIRC his 'Stop the Paedophiles' ticket was grossly misjudged because his poster, featuring him in a waistcoat (is that what you're thinking of, panda?) in a monochrome picture basically making him look like a paedophile himself!

God yes, those posters were terrifying.

As for my vote it has to go to John Deasy :D he's got that whole bad-boy image what with him caught smoking and all...

Anyone else see the blatant rip off of this thread on page 23 of the Indo today?

Didn't see that but did notice that FM106 are now running some sort of competition along these same lines. *yawn*.

Irish media. Originality. Try fitting the two in the same sentence...

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

...not when some inane button pressing goon on a breakfast show makes a bags of it, it isn't.

/waves at all the wet behind the ears researchers just out of their media studies courses and eager to impress, and maybe get a one liner in before they go to news.

By the way (sorry for the double post), what is it with this election's visual campaign and photoshop (or some other digital editing black art)? I know it's been touched on earlier, but we have Photoshop Bertie, man o' de people, plugged into random demographics, (the four youngsters, the elderly couple, and the thirty-something husband and wife: with all the meet and greets he's done over the last ten years, one would think there's be a host of legitimate images to choose from!), and Photoshop Enda, who's almost unrecognisable (this goes for a fair chunk of his election candidates too). Even Labour doesn't escape, with Pat Rabitte being slotted in with the candidate of choice for whatever constituency you're at (For Cork East, John Mulvihill has been spared the ordeal of airbrushing, I can't think why).

We need more high brow totty like Segolene Royal tbh. No photoshop there :D

Hmm, I can see tomorrow's headlines now:

"Blatant Photoshoppery of Election Posters Discovered By One Of Our Researchers, All On His Own With Absolutely No Help Whatsoever, Seriously, He Just Came Up With It!"

How do you say her first name?

    Nice skirt.

Never go home with a shinner girl. You don't know whether she's set you up with a couple of guys with Armalites to blow your head off (and not in the nice way) when you get home.

I've hear it said that Rita O'Hare, the hatchet-faced former? editor of An Fublocked was wanted in Norn Iron for once being the honey in a honey trap. All I can say is, some of those soldiers must have been hard up.

I have to say Ruairi Quinn has a certain "charisma" to him.... and that's about it for Dublin South East, nobody else even rates.

Well John Gormley isn't bad but he reminds me too much of my dad which puts him out of the running.

Ah come on. Lucinda Creighton would be a nice trophy on your arm for a dinner dance.

When you compare her with some of the grummies that have been in this constituency. Anyone old enough to remember Liz Noonan, the lesbian feminist candidate from the early 80s?
