Example: I cant say I am particularly fond of Israelis seeing as most live on land which was robbed from Palestinians either in the late 40s or late 60s. It doesnt mean if you show a picture of a cute Israeli I wont fancy her, but it will do nothing to change my perception of a nation that was built on stolen land.

See my point? In my 5 years of working I have worked with scores of Nigerians, and even a handful of Roma (both stereortyped as workshy, in fairness most of the roma did noit work hard, the Nigerians were/are largely grand) but no travellers. Enouugh said.

I see your points. However, you went too far and started spouting the usual tripe we hear time and time again. My point, which I thought I kept simple enough for all to understand: Discuss the original post/topic and nothing more (your comment re: whether a few pretty faces would change things overnight is valid and acceptable, the rest of your post is not. You've made your points and were permitted to justify them in the thread; No further input from you is required or desired in this thread again. Again, post in this thread and be banned. I'll be happy to discuss this with you via PM though.

I think it's more that this thread doesn't really have a point for the general populace. I doubt many of them are hastily revising previously held convictions that all traveller women were ugly.

And to be fair, she's nothing special tbh.

That's more or less all I'm asking for. I know it might be After Hours and ironic/satirical/sensational/sarcastic thread titles may be all the rage, but this one has fallen on deaf ears, with me anyway, and normally I'm nonplussed by that sort of thing.
Maybe it's the food I ate today, maybe it's just a mood I'm in, it just seems to contradict the purpose of the campaign. It may be very dry but "ITC launch calendar to battle stereotyping" would be much more suitable IMHO.

I dunno, most cream crackers arent oil paintings. BUT i remember in town one night and these two stunning spanish looking young wans walking up past trinity, dressed up and wearing sweet f** all at the same time. You could actually see every bloke they walked past gawking even though they were probably jailbait. I was wondering how the hell their mothers let them out looking like that

Anywhoo a wee while later they walk past again talking pahvee with two pikey young fellas ... the mystery solved but such a shame lol

I think there are plenty fine looking traveller women out there but I can't see how putting some of them in a photoshoot would change the publics perception of the group in any way.

A group of travellers being photographed cleaning up a campsite when they leave it would do a hell of a lot more, imho.

Same here. Lost loads of weight which was then followed by much more attention. Kinda of annoyed me in a way to see peoples new attitudes just because of this.....meh......

Its not going to change everything overnight but its a step. We need to take more of them. There are loads of anti-racism campaigns every year to educate people about our new friends from other nations but there is very little being done for a native ethnic group. Peoples perceptions of travellers are hard-wired into their psyche and we need to change that. Its been like this for a long time-did you know there were laws against vagrancy under the British government in the nineteenth-century that made it illegal to be a traveller?
