I saw this myself about 8 or nine months ago, coming off the N4 heading Northbound on the M50.
I have no idea what it could be, but felt like backing you up a little!

Probably unrelated, but I was driving around the back of the airport (very near to where the OP saw the convoy) at around half seven yesterday when 5 marked Garda cars with flashing sirens passed me on the other side of the road, one after another. They were heading towards the M1. Then Garda cars started pulling out of every side road as I passed, all heading towards the M1. I counted 2 marked cars and 2 unmarked cars. Also, I think most of the cars had 3 Gardaí in them so thats a lot of Gards. Anyone know what was up?

I'd hazard a guess and say it was probably a cash escort. All the new notes heading to the CB or something. Yeah, I'm probably right.

Might have had something to do with a cash escort .

Does it make you feel special to be able to repeat what has already been said? :D
Does it make you feel special that your sig is about eleven times too big?

Cash or Guns. My dad used to get them all the time when he delivered guns. He used to drive 140kmph down O Connell st. with an escort, the guards would tell him to floor it!. This is 25 years ago mind.

Didnt see the convoy but I saw almost the entire air force fleet (2 choppers) circling over the M50 at the Navan road.

What a stupid statement another Joe Public who know fcuk all about the DF.

A cash Escort would have a Military Helo or Military Fixed Wing Aircraft overhead alright.

Are you sure it didn't go along the lines of "get down on the floor and spread your arms and legs..." :D

im sure that its the new notes on the way to the central bank to be printed, if it was cash, they wouldnt have so many trucks of it, its notes, which are very valuable to a scammer if they could get they're hands on them!!

No but i dont like the slagging that the DF get here, especially from types who would see a chopper and go "oh thats the ENTIRE Irish Air Corps"

    Indeed.

Large volumes of cash receive military and Garda escorts almost daily, quite common tbh.

Happens alot in Galway actually. I remember walking past one American couple who, having seen the army men, asked, "is it really that bad here?"

Chill man, this is after hours, where people do not discuss, they slag, belittle and bitch.
I love the DF and all who sail in her.

Prob taking some prisioners to Portlaoise.
I am on the Naas Road a good bit - see it all the time.

Yes...it was probably an escort to Portlaoise Prison with a couple of Provo's from the Special Criminal Court. Cash escorts do sometimes have military personnel escorting but certainly woud not be shutting down side streets. Gilligan was up in court lately, probably this was his trip.
