The smoke thing has the ability to rip up trees... if it was any way intelligent it would just bash down some trees onto the fence and break it, or just rip up the fence thingy itself.

Worst filler episode I've seen to date.

Lots of gratuitous shots of kates bum though and of course the lesbianesque mud fight...

Things that don't stack up number 5 million one hundred and three-Federal agents living in Kates moms house 24/7 for weeks just ready to like pounce in this episode

yeah right-I'm reminded of the comment an episode or two back (you know who you are ;)) "what next the shopping mall over the hill and the airport they haven't seen yet?".

Nice score in this episode-the losties are good at that and some nice photography but the sawyer nice guy vote was playschool predictive.

I've a feeling that this episode was outsourced to the first years students to write.

    Z minus

I really didn't get the 'filler' vibe from this episode.

    Lots happened :
    - Locke now officially joined the Others.
    - Jack finally back with the Losties, somewhat against his will
    - Juliet seemingly abandoned by the others
    - More of the black smoke than we've seen in ages
    - First real indication I'm aware of that the black smoke has little to do with the Others.
    - Sawyer finally progressing a little as a character (I'd gotten sick of him recently but enjoyed his part in this episode).
    - The Others have left their village and disappeared 'somewhere'
    - Everything's finally more or less back to normal (i.e. Losties are all together again)
    - Finally a bit of an interesting turn in the Sawyer/Jack/Kate triangle.
    - Plenty of scope for further adventure.

Why would desmond seeing juliet and kate in the tree help anything? I agree with maybe he is getting the visions from the beastie, because everyone in the lost world (internet ffo*****s i mean) speaks of him "flashing" eko. And whenever Desmond is asked about his powers, all he sees is "flashes".
Is it sexist I referred the the monster as a he? Hmm...

Just refer to it as a "it" :)

I wonder if the losties will move into the others camp now? Better to sleep in a bed than the sand.

Thats what i was saying on page 2. It makes alot of sence to move inland as there are many pros to living there.

One question, and I'm very sorry if this has come up before... but didn't Kate and Juliet leave the smoke INSIDE the fence, yet inside the fence is where the little village was. How did they get back inside? Did they hop over? Did they turn that field off again? They seemed to be heading in the opposite direction though.

Also, Juliet is so damn hot.

It must have been outside the fence. They were returning to the village at the time, weren't they?

No, they woke up outside of the fence and walked back over it (it was off), then Juliet turned it back on. So smokey was left outside the fence's perimeter.

Why was the fence off to being with? I don't know, I assume Juliet (or whoever dragged them out there) turned it off. Actually this would seem to prove that it was Juliet who carried Kate out there, as she probably couldn't turn it back on from outside, and even if she could she'd only be trapping herself out there. But I suppose Ben's people might of had to turn it off anyway when they were leaving.

Odd to read so much criticism about this episode. Really did think it was a continuation of the 'pre last week's slightly above average filler' quality run. Thought the back story was much stronger than usual and the Sawyer story absolutely hilarious. There was some good stuff with the monster-thingie (the flashing lights in Juliet's face was great, but probably completely asthetic reasoning, like the hyrogliphics in the hatch). Not that much happened in the main story, but it did develop the relationships between some of the islanders well.
    A 9/10 for me.

I thought it was a decent episode. Not brilliant but not bad. I gave it a 7.

I definitely think Juliet is a mole. Remember what Ben told Jack when he tried to save her from being executed:

"Juliet doesn't care about you, Jack. It doesn't matter what she's done. No matter what you think, she's one of us."

Jack has a history of falling for the wrong woman and I think he's at it again.

Remember Sayid said "She's not coming with us." Sayid was the one who knew Ben was an other from the start. Same with knowing Michael had been turned. I expect Sayid will be very suspicious of Juliet from now on.

As for why the Others want to get back to the camp, they will still want Aaron...

Or, considering it can move in three dimensions, float over it. But that would be too convenient.

Filler, but not the worst. When kate and juliet were sparked, couldn't help but remind me of those old godzilla toys with sparking mouths. :D Was wondering also if the losties would all move back to the village. While thinking about that I wondered like a previous poster if the others had had the same thing happened to them, and moved into a previously occupied house.

Suppose their stuff wouldn't look so new though? Also puzzled why the black smoke couldn't (or wouldn't?) go over the fence. Are there control panels on every post of the fence, or did juliet want us to think she coincidently found the one access panel for the whole fence?

Oh, wet t-shirts and mud wrestling. Nice. ;)

3 days for a fan belt? pfft

dont think they'll move to the camp, the others had CCTV there. Wherever they are gone to now, they could still be able to monitor them. Dont think Jake and Juliet would encourage them to move there.

So locke has joined the others?

I still always think back to jacks statement, something like 'If there is one person who can get us off this island, its John Locke'

locke will get them home in the end i reckon

also, remember in the hatch when the door fell on locke, the drawing on the door, the '?' in the middle, was that teh bse camp or somewhere else?

and still nothing on the 4 toed foot!!

Yes but your forgetting one major thing, Locke does not want to go home.

I thought this was a fine old episode. Juliet and Jack are quite the pair with their dislocations. Nice reference to series one when Kate's mother says the next time she see's Kate she'll shout help.
Have to wonder about the black smoke not going over the fence though. Also what a heartfelt reunion between Sayid and Jack :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭kermitdfrog

Kate's flashback also clarified a few things about what she did and why. It was clearly for her own selfish reasons and not for her mother, makes her even more flawed. The question is does she repent? because otherwise Smokey is going to be coming for her (and perhaps was at the end).

Do we know this? Her mother said as such, but I had to leave the room then - did she explain what was so selfish about it?

Yeah screw that macho crap I wanted to see hugs! :D

Just watching that episode again on RTE and two things stood out for me. Maybe someone else was pondering the same thing...

    1. When we first hear the monster Juliet doesn't seem to be in much of a rush to get away does she?

    2. How did Juliet know where Sayid would be? For all she knew they could have taken Sayid with them. (She can't be trusted!)

Any chance Kate kills her mother?

Nah i don't think Kate would do that. She said she loves her mother more than once but does not understand why her mother gave her up. I can't see her killing again.

It was a good episode may have been a bit weaker than the previous episodes but it was good not bad or only ok it was good !!!!!This season is so much better than season 2 it think they have had a total of 2 poor episodes this year!

I think there has been alot more poor eps that just 2. The Season is on par with season 2.

Thought it was a decent enough episode. As usual it left us with lots of questions. One of which is where the others have gone? This kinda bugged me a little cos it smacked of "this can drag out a good few eps now". It got me thinking though that maybe they could be heading to the camp where we first saw Mrs Klugh. But I'm probably miles off course - excuse the pun

    7/10

Interesting episode. Nothing exciting except when smokey appears those two times. But lots happened. This was NOT a filler as someone earlier assumed.

BTW, did anyone catch the Waterboys' Fisherman's Blues in this episode??

That was it. Knew it sounded like something familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it

i gave it an 8. Liked how Hurley tricked Sawyer into being nice. :) Loved the black smoke bit, and I always love a Kate flashback, even though I hate her.

    Missed it, where was it?

It's weird that Smokey didn't go over the fence though. Then again, maybe it's not not that smart or not human-controlled. If it was very intelligent, it would have remembered that it couldn't get through the fence.
