did locke really just blow up the sub cos he didnt want daddy to find him? thats crap. im not havin that.

i dunno if that even seems like a locke thing to do! i hope thats not the end of that part of the story. really lookin forward to next week though...

No, he just didn't want to ever leave the island and he didn't want anybody to have any means by which to do it.
I doubt you'll be getting any further development of that story for up to 3 episodes, this week's episode revolves around
Paulo & Nikki (you know it's a filler episode when they're using 2 survivors they just invented this season to base the episode around). There's also a bit of a storyline about how somebody in the Losties camp has been working with the Others or some sort of inside man story like that.

Maybe they're bringing Paulo into it more after he was in 300?

If that was their only reason for bringing a new char into the show i would not be happy :P

A better than average episode .
LoL at all the 9's and 10's again-what are ye going to do when theres a really good episode (better than this one)
Something tells me though that if there was an 11 or 12 up there thats where most voters would go.
    My newspaper won't be hiring.

Nah i doubt it is a nuclear sub tbh. In saying that. Has anyone noticed one major thing. If the village where to others live is in the middle of the Island in between the two mountains we have seen before. How did the sub get into the middle of the Island? The sub was docked in the village with the others so there must be a series of underwater tunnels that allowed the sub to get to the village.

    Anyone else noticed this?

Anyone else think that the healing properties of the island might have been affected by the destruction of the Hatch? We know Ben typed in the numbers when Locke was trapped under the door so it seems he was aware of the significance of the place.

ben had cancer before the destruction of the hatch
i think ben isn't healed because he was born there and is effected less by the healing powers
ben probly typed in the numbers to keep communication with the outside world

Also, if the sonic fence surrounded the camp, then why was it easy to get to the ocean/dock - surely anyone with a boat or who could swim could therefore access the camp.
The Land That Time Forgot - In the movie, the submarine goes through an under sea tunnel/channel and emerges in the centre of an island. Given the geography of the island in Lost, I would say that something similar occurs, i.e. there is an under water tunnel for the submarine to get out to sea.

Yup agreed. As i said above, there has to be underwater tunnels.

I dont know about this episode of Lost, I am wondering just what value Loche brings to the group, all he does is make bad decisions and appears that he wants everyone to stay on the island and live like cavemen! And it seems every single one of his flashbacks is of him being screwed over somehow, maybe thats the point, that he was a nobody on the outside but on the island he is someone people look up to (though I doubt that they will anymore).

Loche used to be my favourite charactor, along with Eko, now one of them is dead and the other one I wish was dead :p

Alright guys first post here have to say i like the theory about locke not blowing up the sub explains him being wet and would be a great move have a submarine stashed away just in case :D

Wasn't too happy seeing his father at the end, I guess because the whole magic box thing explains nearly everthing (including that) as supernatural which seems a bit of a cop out, I keep hoping there's real world explanations, this coupled with Desmonds time travel make it v unlikely. Great episode all the same

Great episode, I'll give it a 7 though as Lost can be better...

In relation to how Cooper got to the Island I think he may have either been recruited or crashed there. My main reason for this is a quote from the FBI agents saying Cooper had fled the state and instead of saying "He could be anywhere in the country" they said "He could be anywhere in the world." Seemed to be a sneaky hint to me anyway. Plus it looked disheveled enough to have been there a while.

Ben was a good as ever, I particularly liked "No John, we don't have a code for 'there's a man hiding in my closet with a gun to my daughters head'...... although we obviously should." Fantastic.

Cooper isn't really Locke’s biological father, it was just part of his con to get a kidney - "You needed a father, I needed a kidney. Get over it".

I've been wondering about that for a while. Was it ever actually said in the show that they're biologically related?

No not that i remember. Although you have to remember that it was John’s mother that called John to help, what she called his father. I think they are biologically related but John’s father did con him and never really cared for him.

Great stuff, Lost is really back on form lately. Locke being shoved out the window was a classic Lost  moment. Locke is going to be a very unpopular man from now on with both the Losties and the Others. Only Ben can protect him now. Jack looked like he was ready to break Locke's back all over again.

I don't mind a few more stand-alone episodes now cos the writers have driven the plot on a lot recently. Looking forward to an episode featuring a lot of Nikki. :p

Okay good episode again. Lost's keeping up the pace and form of the last couple of ep's.
Couple of things. Interesting theory about the submarine. There really is no reason for Locke to be all wet as he didn't get wet going into the sub.
Also Ben said it was there only way of the island but if I'm not mistaken they still have Desmonds yacht which is obviously capable of long distance travel (he was on a round the world race). Also the should have fuel for the yacht cos they had a boat themselves but gave it to Micheal and Walt.
Can't wait to see the next Sawyer flashback as it should be interesting now, should be pretty soon to as we haven't had one from him in a while. With Jack, Locke, Kate and Sayid all now in the Others hands it's time for Sawyer and Jin to step up again as leaders of the Losties.

Really enjoyed this episode of lost but was not too surprised at the end to see the father (and thought I should have been!)
His father really is a nasty piece of work and can't see him adding anything positive to the show!
Also like the idea that John didn't blow up the submarine as it would be a nice twist. I hope there is still a scientific explanation to this series as would hate if its a science fiction or implausable explanation!

I presumed Locke was wet because he planted the C4 on the outside of the sub.
Why do people say that Ben manipulated Locke - Locke's plan was to blow up the sub so I don't see how Ben manipulated him into doing anything he wasn't going to do already.

If Locke planted the C4 on the outside of the sub then why did he open the hatch and go inside? I think he planted the C4 inside the sub but i don't know how he got wet.

The important thing to remember is that she turned up out of the blue when Cooper was looking for a kidney. Locke had no prior knowledge of his parents. The DNA test proved she was his biological mother and after that he took her word for Cooper being his father. Because of the fact that Locke was a match for Cooper to get a kidney it has been assumed that they are related. However being family is not a requirement and does not guarantee you can swap kidneys with your siblings or parents, you can just as easily get a kidney from a stranger provided the blood type is compatible. The problem is persuading that stranger to give up a kidney for you.

if he planted the c4 on the sub, wouldnt he have to get out of it before it blew up. thereby requiring him to swim away from it, explaining why he got wet?

Not necessarily because he got onto the sub without getting wet. Therefore if he planted it inside the sub he should have been able to get out of the sub without getting wet. Now if he planted it on the outside hull of the sub he would have got wet but that doesn't explain why he went inside in the first place.

Then again maybe he just wanted a nosy around in there to see if there was anything interesting in it.

Ben manipulated Locke by doing everything possible to try and get him to blow up the sub. He used simple reverse psychology. He actually wanted the sub blow up so Juliet and the rest of the Others would be more committed/stuck on the island.

Well no because he managed to get into it without getting wet.

    EDIT snap!

sorry, i was going on the assumption that he would have blown the sub up away from the dock to not damage the docklands area.
so if he drove the sub out, planted the c4, left the sub underwater and swam back then he'd be wet, right?
which would explain why the sub wasnt at the dock when it blew up.

btw, i dont even believe that he blew up the sub, i think he just wants them to believe he did.
but i dont think him being wet swings it either way.

locke blew up the sub so no one can get off the island so i assume he wouldn't care about the dock being blown up or not
