Is Danielle an other? *spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen Enter 77*

Following yesterday's episode (Enter 77), I came to the conclusion that Danielle is likely to be an other - she was acting very suspiciously throughout the episode.

Interesting discussion on this topic on The Fuselage at http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=71677.

    Some snippets from there:
Did Danielle untie Patchy/Mikhail??? That's what I want to know.
P.S. edited to add: I will say that one thing doesn't make sense to me. She has been on the island for sixteen years, right? And all that time, the one thing she has wanted more than anything is to find her baby, Alex. Wouldn't you think she would have searched every inch of the island by now? I mean, how big is that sucka?

    Any thoughts?

I don't think she is an other, but she definitely knows more about them than she let's on.

She has surely come into contact with them a couple of times, and possibly even dealt with them. At worst, she may have struck some sort of deal with them, but I don't think she is one.

Since it seems, after Enter 77, that the group will head on to try find the Other's village with Sayid's map, we may be in for a few surprises if Danielle goes with them.

Guys I think you should either stick a "Spoiler" mention on the subject of this or spoiler tag your messages, as some people might not have seen the episodes you mention.

    My theory:
I actually think that Danielle is one of the original Darma group, and that the Others are the "Hostiles" mentioned in this episode... When the "hostiles"/others purged the Darma group, they took Alex (As she was only a baby), and Danielle went into hiding

    That's what I think too.

She knows more than she's letting on but she can't be an Other. After all, she
wanted to kill Patchey in Enter 77

She was the one that caught Ben(Henry Gale) in season 2 and put an arrow through his shoulder so no i don't think she is one of the others but she does know alot more about the island than she lets on

Yes i concur she seems sketchy on her background but she definitely knows more than she's letting on.

Why was Ben traipsing about though? Maybe she had a deal with Ben (Henry) but he broke it and she decided to hand him over. I don't think she's an other but she certainly knows more than she lets on.

I actually forgot that she was the one who shot him in the first place. To be honest i am not sure what to make of her anymore.

You have to wonder though, when they were leading Mikhail away, WHY didn't they take the perfectly good horse with them??? I mean come on that would be so helpful to have on the Island.

erm, shooting ben could be a complete and utter lie though.

From what i remember, Ben wanted to get Locke on board witht he others, wasn't that admited at one stage? Wasn't Ben trying to play the losties off against each other? Seems rather convenient that he was handed over to them... I'm not saying she is an other, but pointing out the 'fact' she shot ben doesn't really mean much, as we don't know what happened in the lead up to him being captured and shot.

That could be true considering what happened when they brought Ben to the hatch. It could have been a way to infiltrate the losties hatch easily.

However I don't think Danielle is an other because she helped Claire escape from them.

    I know she thinks more..

    er...

She's not telling all that she knows! :D

I think she knew about the flame station, and who was there, and that is why she didn't go near it.

Just because she suggested that they kill Mikhail wouldn't make her innocent of being a hostile, same goes for spearing Ben.

After all, we know Juliette was happy to kill Danny, and Mikhail killed Mrs Klugh without much encouragement.

i mean, patchy seems pretty keen to get killed to avoid revealing some secret, maybe she has the same interests as him and wanted to convince sayid to do it... i dunno, i doubt she's an other tbh,

There are a couple of odd things.

Firstly, why did she hand over Ben to the losties when she has always given the impression that she would see them all dead. Why not just kill him when he fell into her trap.

What the hell was Ben doing walking around and getting caught. He is the type of guy who has everything planned out so he either arranged for Danielle to hand him over or he had another plan to get him into the hatch.

Why did the other Others go to such great lengths to get Ben released if his plan was to be captured? They had no idea what was happening to Ben in the hatch or whether he had successfully tricked the losties into thinking he was really Henry Gale.

My opinion is tha Danielle is not an Other but has been promised something by them if she co-operates.

I think that patchy wanted to be killed because he knew what would happen if the others found out that he killed Klugh. Like what happened to Julliet

i think danielle and her dead crew are the hostiles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

I think it's more likely that Danielle and her crew (be they alive or dead) could have been the Dharma scientists.

    why would scientists carry guns

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 446 ✭✭man1

    Lots of scientists carry guns.
There are scientists in all sorts of weird and dangerous places, The Congo, Artic circle, Amazon rainforest, Himalayas, Sligo etc so they would need to carry a gun in case they came across a dangerous animal or person (Local parish priest in Sligos case).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

To protect themselves against hostile locals. Not all scientists are labcoat wearing, bespectacled nerds.

Hilarious, funniest post I've read on boards in quite some time.
Does anybody else wonder why Sayid has such respect for Rousseau? If he's supposed to be such a capable judge of character and a master interrogator, then why if there's some flaw in Rousseau's back story or character has he not picked up on it? I think he fancies her tbh...

Reading that has just reminded me of Ned Flanders going to water his window boxes after reclaiming his "Technicolor Coat"... I'm sorry, didn't mean to go off on that slight tangent there. But seriously, since day one he's had the utmost respect for everything Rousseau says or does, doesn't question it at all, I think she's the ultimate inside (wo)man or con(wo)man...
Maybe her knowledge of communications and the radio signal in season one turned Sayid on...

*shudders at the thought of being turned on by Danielle* lol!

I think he respects the woman for surviving that long on an island alone. And I'm hoping thats as far as it goes

But his willingness to accept that she's done that has me wondering, how stupid would it be if hers was the only story he took at face value, this is Sayid we're dealing with here...
