    As you asked: :D
The word shrove is a past tense of the English verb "shrive," which means to obtain absolution for one's sins by confessing and doing penance

Had them as a desert this evening. Damn nice if I may say so myself. I make them nice and crispy by smothering the pan with butter first. I feel about 2 stone heavier now, but feck it. Twas worth it.

I wish to inform all boarders of the following:

I and my minnions will be visiting everyones home tonight and will be assessing pancake eating habits and punishing accordingly. Bearing this in mind you should read the following instructions:
Pancakes are to be eaten with a gentle (or heavy) coating of either caster or table sugar.

The penalties for other accompaniments are based on severity:
    1. The consumers of pancakes with maple syrup will be given a "talking to" and told to straighten up their ways.
    2. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of fruit will have a whole specimen of said fruit placed forcefully up each nostril.
    3. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of vegetable will be required to spend a night sleeping in the field from which said vegetable was cultivated.
    4. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of meat will be expected to make sweet love to a specimen of the animal in question.
    5. The consumers of pancakes containing cheese will of course be shot.

This message has been brought to you by Drift who knows the one true and correct way to eat pancakes.

Damn straight! Sugar (preferably caster) and lemon AND THAT'S IT! Anything else on a pancake is un-constitutional, un-Irish, un-holy, un-ethical...... dammit, it's just plain Communism, I say! :D

Pancake Tuesday just snuck up on us this year. Normally Jif lemon remind me that pancakes are on the horizon, but this year they've failed.

For shame Jif lemon people for SHAAAAMMMMEEE!!!!
I emphatise with you on that one.
The problem is, because of the recent influx of damn fordenurrsh, they had to change the name to "Cif" (soft "C") so that the immigints could pronounce it.

lol, reminds me of when my Ex first started making pancakes for desert, she could not understand the novelty of me eating pancakes in April. I then went to Finland with her and discovered that they often eat it as a desert during the summer (or it was just that her mum used to make them any time we went to visit, I have to check with other finns to find out). They ate them with jam though, and they gave me the strangest looks when I asked about lemon juice (and when I covered them in the juice)

I disappointed myself by only eating a meagre six pancakes. Usually I eat at least eight. Although, having eaten half a jar of nutella, enough sugar to slay a small child and some ice cream, I think I evened the shortfall out.

I can't sleep because I'm so full of pancake goodness. I skipped lunch and dinner and had pancakes instead. I really don't recommend it!

It took a 3am trip to tescos, and the stealing of oil, a fryingpan and several plates, but we had our pancakes, goddamn it.

And they were the worst pancakes ever.....

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the american style and the crepe/european style. Is it just the thickness or are they made differently?

Yea, I'm with you, didn't have them yesterday but hopefully today, or next Tuesday! Pity there wasn't more hype about it, I would've been ready! How come Hallmark commercialism didn't hijack Pancake Tuesday? That's just wrong..I would have sent a card made out of pancakes paper and would gladly buy a snowdome with pancakes falling around a young couple eating pancakes!
