    Religion

    Love it! :D

Can't wait to get home from work to start making them from scratch. Put in an extra egg or two and loads of sugar- very unhealthy but oh soo good! Loads of butter on them when straight from the frying pan or chocolate spread when cold hmmm....

just had some with maple syrup for lunch and will finish off the batter later for dinner. prob maple syrup again and a couple with lemon juice and brown sugar for traditions sake...

The usual sugar and lemon for me later, although I'd imagine ice-cream would be pretty nice on them, never thought of that before.

we have pancakes every frickin saturday morning cos theyre so gorjass.

loads of burr (aka butter) n sugar on please.

a big mug of tea afterwards.

(tea, believe it or not, goes even better with burr n sugar panners than it does with sausage sambos)

[edit : pancakes are proof that there is a god and that he loves us]

Where can you buy the real maple syrup? I've only ever gotten the real stuff when my bro goes to Canada. I tried several supermarkets for it and all I could
find was the crappy maple flavoured syrup rubbish...

what you mean 'novelty'? I didnt even know such thing as "pancake Tuesday" existed before I moved to Ireland (confirmed heathen, me, may my soul rot in hell and all that). The religious reasoning behind pancakes is beyond me, but I'm certainly not missing out on the eating of said pancakes. ;-)

Preferably with syrup. Or cheese and garlic butter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,468 ✭✭✭Lex_Diamonds

Do not discount the savoury pancake my friends. I plan on entering this new culinary arena tonight, and then follow up with the more traditional maple syrup soaked 'cake.

    Good luck to you all.

"Hi, I'm Archeron, I live next door. I was wondering if there's any chance I could borrow a cup of flour, two eggs, a whisk, some baking powder, a large plastic bowl, some greaseproof paper, a frying pan and a portable cooker please? I'll drop them back as soon as I'm finished".

Pancake Tuesday just snuck up on us this year. Normally Jif lemon remind me that pancakes are on the horizon, but this year they've failed.

Mmmmm.... Pancakes with lemon & sugar first, then for dessert ill have one with decent vanilla ice-cream.

Put some nutmeg & cinnamon in the batter and they taste delicious.

Completely unrelated but can someone message me & tell me how to find things that i've previously posted as i'm a newbie. Enjoy the pancakes!

The best thing to do is to let the maple syrup dribble down the pancake and also add the butter and sugar when the pancake is on the hat frying pan.

    Mmmmmmmmmmm:D

The way I like them is wrapped around a cooked sliced pear with a dollop of icecream. But I'm also partial to an orange sauce with butter and sugar.

I wish to inform all boarders of the following:

I and my minnions will be visiting everyones home tonight and will be assessing pancake eating habits and punishing accordingly. Bearing this in mind you should read the following instructions:
Pancakes are to be eaten with a gentle (or heavy) coating of either caster or table sugar.

The penalties for other accompaniments are based on severity:
    1. The consumers of pancakes with maple syrup will be given a "talking to" and told to straighten up their ways.
    2. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of fruit will have a whole specimen of said fruit placed forcefully up each nostril.
    3. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of vegetable will be required to spend a night sleeping in the field from which said vegetable was cultivated.
    4. The consumers of pancakes containing any type of meat will be expected to make sweet love to a specimen of the animal in question.
    5. The consumers of pancakes containing cheese will of course be shot.

This message has been brought to you by Drift who knows the one true and correct way to eat pancakes.

in transition year I made pancakes and a friend of mine made chicken curry, so we put the two together and had the best lunch of the year.

we keep saying we must do it again some time.. but we never have.
