Not a band I'd have much interest in myself, but on a nice day the venue could make it.

Wonder what 'Fingal County Council' are like :D
Aiken Promotions are proud to present…

ARCTIC MONKEYS (with the support of Fingal County Council)

Live in the Unique Setting of Malahide Castle,
    Saturday 16th June 2007
Tickets will go on sale Next Thursday 22nd Feb ’07 at 9am

Sheffield four-piece Arctic Monkeys have announced a headline Irish gig for the summer 2007. They will play at Malahide Castle, Co Dublin on Saturday 16th June. This will only be the band’s second headline gig in Ireland (the first being in Whelans, Dublin in 2005)

The band release their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare on 20 April 2007 – preceded by the new single “Brianstorm” on 13 April.

Arctic Monkeys released their debut album WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM, THAT’S WHAT I’M NOT in January of last year. On it’s release it achieved the position of the fastest-selling debut album in British chart history. It spent 3 weeks on the number 1 spot here in Ireland and has since reached multi-platinum status.

Arctic Monkeys were the winners of the 2006 Mercury Music Prize.

Their first two singles “I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor” and “When The Sun Goes Down” both entered the UK chart at Number 1.

The band released a DVD Scummy Man last year - The Warp Films short was inspired by the gritty urban tale of Arctic Monkeys’ “When The Sun Goes Down” and developed by an award winning production team in consultation with the band.

If they have a decent support band and the sun is shining this could be one of the gigs of the year.

Meh, they're better suited to a venue like the <snip> imo. And not worth €50.

I must say, aiken are really going all out this summer.

    1) Leaving Cert
    2) €50...hmmm

No surprise to see them still on sale. Theyve alienated a big chunk of their fanbase with the timing as well as the price not to mention alot of people are probably assuming an appearance at at least one of the summer festivals in the country.

well i stand corrected! you can easly buy tickets over net...oh well.

i thought they where more popular then Razorlight anyway who sold out in like 30 mins..

id say the capacity of Malahide is in the region of 20,000, where as the RDS is about 5,000 afaik.

Malahide has a much larger capacity than 20k but they are limiting gigs to 15k.

and considering that they've just been announced for T in the Park, an appearance at one particular festival is highly likely, expect the announcement after this gig sells out.

According to the Planning Application for the upcoming Andrea Bocelli at the same venue the capacity will be just over 5000. However, that gig is an all seater so I reckon it'd be fair to say that for the Arctic's the capacity would be in the region of 5-10K.

I'm actually quite surprised that the gig hasn't sold out yet. They just need one hit single to be released from their new album which is out in April for the demand for tickets to be increased.

From what i can see on that application it says 10000 seated under the Proposed Capacity heading

Picked up 2 today and about 4pm, said they had roughly 600 left. Any news on the support?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭JJ

I tink it might be sold out. There doesn't seem to be any left online.

That upcoming Andrea Bocelli concert was last summer!! And as playa3 said the capacity was 10,000 all seated. The AM capacity is set at 15,000 for the gig even though the grounds could take higher.

FYI I hear that they wont be appearing at "one particular festival" this summer.
