Jacks brother.... I remember him from season 5... Can't exactly remember what he did though in it. can anyone remind me? and was it ever mentioned in season 5 that he was his brother?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,392 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

    w00t!

****ing ace! I loved the opening scenes of pure madness and folk trying to comprehend what the **** just happened. Excellent opening imo.

What a twist! Never would have seen Graham as the 'bluetooth guy' from s05. God dammit what the hell sort of family does Jack have?!

The very end, suddenly Jack has a new lease on life
"Thats not good enough...you brought this on yourself..."

If only he knew about day5...

4 more bombs are due to go off during the day, Fayed needs a new engi and Darren : Who the **** is Darren?!

    Most excellent ep.

Ehh...he was part of the group that were behind the whole day5 happenings.

woah! didn't see that twist coming. Dr romano is Jack's brother! He was the guy that was head of the group controlling the president last season wasn't he? Very interesting twist there, apart from that there wasn't much else really exciting but not a bad episode overall. to be honest we really need a double episode every week! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,264 ✭✭✭lafors

Yeah we definitely need 2 a week.....ah sure just release the whole series now :)

This ep was good, worst of the 5 so far.....worst is probably the wrong word though.

Didn't see that coming the 'bluetooth' guy as his brother, and I wonder was his dad in on it or did yer man graham kill him.
It'll be interesting to see how the guy in detention can bluff the lads about fayed.

Here's one for ya, do you think graham's son is actually Jacks son??????

Those americans need to learn to say names too, what the hell were the calling yer man graham....gram??

Roll on the next ep. :)

Ah yes a bit of that suggestive thing derren brown uses!
A bit of an awkward pause too.

Graham's son had the worst haircut ever.

Apart from the revelation, it was a pretty weak episode.

I'm wondering if Daddy will turn out to be this guy?

Anyone know what the 'real world' relationship between Kiefer and Donald is like? It would, I'd imagine, have a considerable bearing on whether Donald would make an appearance.

This is utter speculation on my part, by the way. :D

great episode but i thought that the guy who they wired up got accepted too easily

Ok I felt they may have jumped the shark on this episode.

    1. Jack is devastated after having to shoot Curtis and the bomb is set off. What does jack do? He goes and saves a guy in a helicopter?????? (Not forgetting that he has just traveled from china after months of torture, I have let that go so far).

    2. Jacks' brother is Graham from Day 5, what? And lets make it look like his son may actually be Jacks' son

    3. Sandra Palmer find's out from Walid that they terrorist have actually been interned.

    4. The President goes into the bunker without his family and it does look like the writers plan to write them in, and why didn't we hear about a wife in Day 3 when he was ready to get with Julia.

So many great characters from Day 5 where left out because they had to close Day 5.

Day 5 should have let Pres. Logan get away with what he was doing. But maybe he did...... Lets face he prob couldn't have won the election anyway.

I gave it 3/5 but if any character has to return this season its Mandy. :)

Jack will need a councillor after this.

I don't think there is a councillor in the world that would be up to help however.

    Outrageous! I'm still loving it

Sandra is a bit of alright, isn't she?

Only so/so - Jack's family suddenly popping up felt contrived, although I'd love to be proved wrong and shown evidence that he was Jack's brother in S5 as opposed to retroactively writing it in.

This bringing in the family thing is a bit tiring with it going on with the Palmers too. What's in S6 - the President's cousin? Having WhatsHisFace integrate into the terrorist unit was a bit too easy, although it's hard to see how they'd have done something longer like "Sleeper Cell" and it was 24ish enough to not be too annoying..

Oh and the people running around in panic, fleeing - after 11mins? Jeez that was a quick response to the situation :)

have you not watched any other season of 24? i am as big a believer in tv series holding a note of reality, but jack has always been portrayed as a machine who switches off emotion to get the job done. in every single season

Well his name is Graham (according to the official site) but Jack calls him Gray.

    When in doubt.. Wiki:
Graham "Gray" Bauer (also spelled as Graem)
    Obviously a nickname.

    Thought it was ok.

I reckon the kid most be jacks son. Whats the bets he gets kidnapped?

Is it just me or is it getting a lot more political? Dont really like that, that much

Yes I have all of them on DVD, I have been a big fan of the series since it began. Season 2 on Boards http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=79361 AFAIK cann't find season 1 :(

But no jack wasn't the killer you make him out to be,
in DAY 1 he is trying to resuce his family,
in DAY 2 he is brought back to CTU only because they need him, he is still recovering from the death of his wife,
in DAY 3 he cries at the very end,
in DAY 4 he is not happy to show his dark side to Ms. Raines and
in DAY 5 he finds it diffucult to return and let her and Kim know he is still alive.

While he does like to the the job done he does have a heart, and I think he prob could have taken Curtis with out having to kill him.

I just thought it was too quick. IMO. I know everything has to happen in 24 but then they should have started the series a few days or weeks after Jack was freed from China.

It's just you. Season 5 was a hell of a lot more political.

I thought this was a good episode, but not a great one. Pretty shocking that yer man's Jack's brother and twas class when he decked him. I wonder does Jack know that Gray had something or other to do with all the crap happening in s5? He seemed pretty pissed off for no real reason at him.

And Wayne Palmer still doesn't look like a President. That's still stupid.

Well, if he does and finishes up shacking up with a mad recluse or getting stalked by a cougar, we'll know which side of the family to blame for Kim's 'stoopid' gene. :D

now before u interpret it as the usual snappy narky replies that one always gets on boards, i'm just engaging in a friendly debate here elmo, cool? i believe u, no need to dig up old threads to confirm it, i'l take ur word whatever u say! I too am a long time 24 fan and have watched all seasons and own them on dvd, however my memory is clearly not as good as yours but i'l try my best here to remember some examples to support my argument [without sitting down to rewatch all the seasons!] if anyone else has better examples from respective seasons, please post!

season 1 - off the cuff, he takes a superior [ mason ] into his office and shoots him with a tranquilizer dart, while still only suspicious of masons actions. i find this quite ruthless, heartless, thus an example of how he switches off emotionally with only the intention of getting the job done.

season 2 -he returns to ctu and his first action is to kill and decapitate a convict with an immunity deal in order to establish a cover

season 3 - he cries, yes, but only after having ignored his emotions for the duration of the day. i didn't mean he is totally numb to feelings, rather he can opt to put off the effects until his task is achieved

i'l come back to season 4 and 5 because I simply dont have time, I have to shower n head into the palace [sigh]

Totally disagree, I think Jack is the kind of killer that riddik says he is. Its common knowledge that Jack is ex-Delta Force and would've been trained to become emotionally detached from the situation and get on with The Mission at hand.

Yes, all those things you mention show that he 'has a heart' or has moments of weakness but for a lot of it he just as quickly he gets on with it because the mission demands it, as does his training with the Delta Forces.

So, in that regard I don't think its so implausible that he kills Curtis one minute, has a mini-breakdown, and then is saving helicopter-guy the next :)

And about Curtis, wasn't he wearing a bullet-proof vest? plus Assad was between them, so I can't see how he could've non-fatally wounded him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

Sorry Riddik, what I mean to say is that Jack has always shown that his job is his job and his emotions are his emotions.

There are many examples of his human side and his dark side.

I am fairly sure he never decapitate someone, he just shot that guy.

Also remember when he shot Cheppel (sp?) he wasn't happy about doing that or handing over the plane to Mason, or allowing his daughter to date Chase.

All I am saying is I feel that Jack has too much going on in the first 5 hours of this season.

Jesus now you have me agree with you. This never works out for my arguements I should stop when the going is good.

They should have left the helicopter recuse out of the episode.

    Are you his defence lawyer?

I just wanted to bring up an old thread. :) interesting to read I thought

He could have shot him in the leg or arm, where did the bullet go any way with Assad between them?????

    sit back and enjoy

Ah Elmo, only just seen your post (which we did at nearly the same time!). All good points :)

Perhaps with Curtis he felt if he shot him in the arm it would have alos hit Assad too at that range (he had him in an arm-lock? can't remember now :/)

Pretty good episode I have to admit. The helicoptor on the top of the roof was pretty good, again the 24 crew blurring the line between the stuff you see in movies and in tv shows (like the plane on the motorway from last season) and wow... jacks brother, did NOT see that coming, although it feels now like a cheesy american soap opera bringing the family into it as the villians, all we need next is jacks evil twin, a few illegitimate children and an uncle with a secret oil fortune and we'll be set.

I do however think they are losing the whole point of the series which is to keep it real time. In the last 5 minutes of hour 4 Jack quit CTU because of the emotional termoil of killing his friend, in the first 5 minutes of hour 5 he's saved a person from an exploding helicopter and rejoined CTU? WTF? 10 minutes to get over that kind of anguish?

Either way, still, i'm one of those peoples that just likes to sit back and watch it, as its always entertaining, as long as you don't need the why's or how's then its a great show.

A lot of people had said to me this episode was a bit meh before I seen it but have to say I enjoyed it. I liked the scenes featuring the aftermath of the bomb and all round I found the episode entertaining.

The twist with Jack brothers was certainly unexpected and I liked it. It would be interesting to know if the writers had this idea in mind when they wrote the character for season 5.
