I really like Emmerdale.. I think it is a very well written show.. just the right amount of humour and drama.

I watch Home and Away if I am home from work in time.. I have a sort of loyalty to it as I still remember watching the first episode. (sadser alert: I have a photo of me standing outside Summber Bay surf club.. my mother told all her friends that I went to Summer Bay when I was in Oz.

If there is a good storyline (like last week with martin and Sonia) I watch Eastenders.. mostly i dont though.

Also like Holby City and Casualty(are they classified as a soap??)

Nah, situational drama. No shame in that!

For me living in Canada, I try to watch as much television as I can from back home, but unfortunately that's only a couple of shows. American television is ****e. Before I moved here, I had moved on from the soaps I watched in my teens (Corrie, Eastenders) and I had only picked them up originally from my ma watching them all the time. Now I try to watch Coronation Street all the time. I really don't see the problem with a guy watching these shows.

Seeing as my first born has started Gaelscoil recently, myself and herself have started to get into Ros Na Run on TG4. Now I've just discovered Adharc Fada also which, being the proper Ulster Gaelige, I can at least understand.

The lead-in in Coronation St. makes me depressed as does Eastenders. Why can't all soaps be like Dream Team and Footballers wives - full of hot-chicks? Why do we need soaps to attempt to be realistic when we watch them only to escape realism....?

    Nope, not a soap fan.

    Poll?

    No freakin' way.

    Poll?

    Yes, I think so.

OT: Does anyone notice how the "actors" when interviewed are no different from their on-screen personas? They are just as chav-ey in real life. No wonder most of them can't get real acting jobs.

I only watch Home and Away and have done so for as long as I can remember. It's like a bad habit that I can't shake at this stage.

I hate all the English soaps (Eastenders, Coronation street etc ). There really depressing

Dont mind the likes of Home and Away while eating the dinner.;)

Some American tv shows/soaps are good. There more sitcoms though than soaps though.

    thats true, but sitcoms rule

my mother is mad into em so my entire youth has been polluted with backround info on all of em that i'll never use. since i moved out its been a soap free zone :D

that said i have watched the odd eps of "ros na run". i cant speak a word of irish but the show plays like a mills and boons novel. one of my favourite storylines was when one of the characters was having an affair with one of the other characters whist fleecing him for money and tried to rub that fact in that characters wife face . only to have the wife turn around and say she knew cause she couldnt satisfiy him sexually and he's been using prostitutes "like her"for years :D:D

that and i ocassionaly look into "hollyoaks". mainly cause of the hot totty factor (i know i shouldnt be looking at 16yr old girls in school uniforms but there ya go :o ) and the fact its like the whole show is wrote the night before by a gang on the piss. favourite parts so far, the "whos the daddy" paedo school teacher thing with bekka (?). the "your wifes trying to kill ya ya muppet" storyline (i do admit to shouting "yes" when his best mate clocks the psyho at the lake with a beauty of a punch to the face :D ) and finally the one where the blonde girl throws herself at a bloke who i was convinced was gay (if you seen the blonde one ya'd know) who ,when he dumped her, humiliated herself in public by trailing after him in tears crying "is it coz i was crap in the sack?, im sorry but it was my first time"!!!:D :D:D

ok i know thats cruel but it was just a priceless bit of writing (by the way turns out the guy fancied her best mate more, who now apparently has got the rep of being a total whore:) )

honnestly i dont even count it as a soap, more an exercise in plotting insanity!

I watch eastenders now and again. The rest are rubbish imo.

I'd rather Tango rather than watch a soap (which is saying something! )
