Yes, but we got around that through cheapening life.

Lets say dying in combat in WWII gets you a dulce et decorum rating of 1.0 and then WWI would be roughly 0.2 and the war in Viet Nam was around 0.1 (losing majorly for, well losing, and the technicality of not actually declaring war on the enemy, and so on, but still it kept the price of Tungsten and Tin down for a bit). With the war in Iraq we've got it down to -0.1 and in Afghanistan it's around -0.15.

At this rate we should be able to wipe out all Western armed forces by Christmas.
