Phone the woman. Texting about something important can lend itself to annoyance because you're left wondering 'She hasn't texted me back.... does she not want to talk to me.... maybe I got her number wrong..... maybe she's out of credit...'

Whereas if you phone her then you'll pretty much know straight away.

It's easier to text but really if you're asking somebody out for a drink it's a bit of a pussy's way out - you should be man enough to just ring her and ask her straight. Honestly.

None of this texting is what modern, technically adept people do bull****. My grandad can text. It's not like it's a hard to master skill.

You want her to have a bit of respect for you? Be a man and ring her.

It's also easier to judger her reaction when you're actually speaking to her. Like if she says I can't do it on such a night but maybe another time. On text that seems like a 'please **** off' reply but when you're talking you will be able to tell whether she's genuine or not.
