Yeah I use Firefox all the time now. The icons on the top and the tabs are very good. The older versions used to annoy me as they seemed to have a tendency to crash for no reason. Not being able to open up Acrobat files without using Internet Explorer is annoying still but that's about the only drawback. Actually the way it sometimes just saves to the desktop without you getting to choose where you save to is annoying too.

Get foxit reader, it's a plugin. Opens almost instantly, unlike the lumbering behemoth that is Adobe Acrobat, and it's a cinch to install.

Tools-options-main-"always ask me where to save files".

Other great addons include auto-refresh (so your webtexts are always on with no signing in hassle), scrapbook (the most handy addon I've ever installed) and IE tab (lets you open whatever pages you want in an internet explorer tab within Firefox).

I used to be skeptical, but I'm well and truly converted. Firefox is the shiz.

It lets you highlight and save bits and pieces of different webpages to look at later. It doesn't sound that great, but once you start using it, you realise it's amazing, especially if you're researching something - you can have snippets of webpages (including the original formatting and any pictures) right at your fingertips. It won loads of web awards iirc.

Pffh, who needs to save porn when you've got xtube?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,626 ✭✭✭Stargal

That does sound really useful (the scrapbook, not the porn). I don't see it in add-ons though?

But seriously: swinging always makes me thing of bored, chubby, unattractive and perhaps most importantly, useless in bed couples, rather than hot exciting sex.

Maybe we need a society to dispel these misconceptions...
    Hey, I'm not useless ;(
wandering around in my big heavy raincoat and runners makes me look totally attractive though >.<
That does seem to be the stereotype though
that's what the bf thinks anyway lol

We've just had a cool Maths lecture, in which we were learning about n-tuples. My mind's fairly stretched after it, but it was so much fun.

    FFFTW

And what's the problem with trying to use Adobe Acrobat with FF? (apart from Pet's astute observation of the slowness of Acrobat) It works fine on all my machines.

On my computer if i try to click on a Acrobat file in Firefox Acrobat starts to load up then says that they can't be opened on this browser. If I do it on IE, Acrobat loads them up in the IE window.

    I'm not *that* bothered ;D

tbh I should just set up in the postgrad office, the prof said I could have a desk in there but I haven't gotten around to nagging him about it yet...

Mario Kart tournament. Free Phil mulled wine. M&S Xmas Port. Pub. Drunken ice-skating. More pubs. Life is good. Say what you will about Ultimate Frisbee as a sport - they throw a damn good mystery tour.

(til the "waking up to study" part, of course, but that's kinda tangential)

Woohoo for the feeling you get when you're really hungry and then reach into your pocket to find a toffee crisp which you purchased the night before but forgot to eat :D

    Plus end of term. Woohoo!
