Sounds like Howard Marks. His most famous book is called Mr Nice. Tis an entertaining read. Think his Mrs has a book out now as well recalling what it was like to be married to him during those crazy years.

Yep, It was indeed the great Howard Marks...

    His 3 publications are:
    >Mr. Nice
    >The Book of Dope stories
    >Senior Nice

havent read the last one but its on my list.

    T.Sc.
did you say "the Great" in regard to an ex drug dealer, fair play for turning his life around but "Great" sounds a bit OTT

the panel was actually funny the last two weeks, whats going on (well excapt for that guy from offaly and ed byrne)

Ed byrne was poor last night, he said very little. I thought Edith Bowman tried a little too hard, bring back Mairead. Edith also looked awful drawn or tired.

Ed Byrne was poor, but I didn't really rate him as a comedian anyway. Edith looked wrecked. The other three lads played a blinder IMO, one of teh funniest shows yet.

Howard Marks was a really good guest, but it played into the hands of the obvious one liners and predictable quips. Still good tho.

Did they ever have Dierdre O'Kane in the 'token girl's seat'? Wonder how she'd do..

it was f'ing hilarious last night, jason byrne was brill, never broke into his stupid noises stuff.

the best thing about edith bowmen is she highly unlikely to be on next week.

maeve o'higgnes, shes a bit wierd and over does the eh quiet wierdness but now that I've seen outside Naked camera shes great

Yeah edith looked very rough, and wasn't too funny, I'm sure she didn't understand half the jokes

The outtake at the end was the funniest part of the show "...death spray" lol

Yeah it was Howard Marks on last night. I was caught off-guard by it, so had to jump down and press record on the video machine! :D He was quality, really showed how witty he is.

I recommend that everyone buys 'Mr Nice' and reads it -- I read it a few years ago and loved it, and am now as a result of seeing Howard last night, re-reading it! :D My brother is reading it for the first time too, as a result of seeing Howard. I'll probably get 'Senor Nice' off someone for Christmas.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the clip onto the computer and if I do I'll put it on YouTube.

Jason Byrne was very good too :)

    Oh gawd no, don't.

Howard Marks is a fascinating character, but I found his bio a bit of a drag. He really should have got a decent ghostwriter. The chapter in his bio about using Shannon Airport (he briefly mentioned it last night) is hilarious.

As for the token bintage, Edith who?

Was I the only one that seemed to find last week's show funnier(don't know if it was Dara O'Briain's absence (as he's usually very funny). Any one able to upload last week's show?

That video is appalling quality, the sound is píss poor. I sent an angry email to RTE about it earlier, but they haven't fixed it. Can't hear a word they're saying.

there seemed to be a lot of that on the show. hes stoned, what a legend!

as for "that guy from offaly" - neil delamere? i LOVE him. he was (possibly still is, not sure) the mc for brays comedy clubs monthly gigs & was always hilarious :)

Thanks for the links eolhc! Getting it now.

Wouldn't mind seeing Maeve Higgins on it, missed her bit on Podge and Rodge. Maeve (I think?) Farrell was the best they've had in a while (not brilliant, but...)

Dara O'Briain was on Tubridy at the weekend and he said they might start rotating the hosts in 2007.

oh it is terrible, they must have decided to put it on the different compression, maybe the production company did it.

they should put cloim murphy over the other side and bring the unfunny, nothing to say for herself non-comedian woman, over to the left ide so she can interact with the guests atleast.

I'm sure the rest of Tallaght were jumping with you Dave, one of their heroes on TV sure how could they not tape it?! :p

Was a good episode alright, I'd heard about Howard Marks before and he was quite an interesting guest.
Edith Bowman was alright I suppose.

I emailed RTE about it, and they said there was a problem that they hadn't noticed. They've fixed it now :). They were very helpful and nice.
