oh right, lol. Yeah I remembered Ben saying that in front of Jack. I just thought it was somehow his way of not letting Jack know that they had taken the boat, by calling it a sub... I guess i'm seeing conspiracys where there isn't any. :o

Didn't Desmond spend weeks doing laps of the island though? Surely he would have seen it? I suppose only time will tell though.

It's idiotic of them to never have checked the permiter of the island - for all they know, the mainland could have been visible from the other side. Idiots.

if you go back to ep 3:01 you will see that the Other's camp is pretty much shielded from the coast by hills/mountains. Unless they serached all the island they would never find it unless by chance.

reagrding the mainland being visible - I thought of this early on and wondered why they hadn't explored more - however, I suppose that if they were near civilisation then the plane and/or crash would have been spotted and civilisation would come looking for them

They will have break after episode 6 and start showing it again in February I think

Ah at least its only another 12 weeks to wait :(

12 weeks? Seriously? (10 now presumably) If this is right, I wont be bothering watching it again tbh. I mean, I enjoy it, and season 3 has been good so far IMO, but 3 months break after 6 episodes? Get real.

It's much better scheduling than the previous 2 seasons. 4 episodes on 5 weeks off then 2 episodes then 6 weeks off etc etc. Was driving me crazy last year!

The prospect of 17 episodes in a row is absolutely fantastic - will make it much easier to avoid spoilers!

Why not just half n' half? 12 weeks of a break after 6 weeks of scheduling just seems ridiculous to me. I thought it must have been a mistake.

Why does the big break make a difference to whether you watch it or not? Put it out of your mind now and come back to it in February. Then you have 17 weeks solid.

    People really are never happy.

I find it overly frustrating (overly is the key word there). It just crosses the line. 1 episode every 3 weeks on average over 18 weeks. I think it's just too much.

I also watch the new series of Battlestar galactica. After losing viewers because of a large break last season, they had the good sense to shorten it this season. Lost producers would do well to learn from them tbh.

Nice generalisation. People really are individual. What irks you probably wont bother me in the slightest. We're just different.

    yeah its mental

the thanksgiving tv shedule in the states kicks in and so they have an excuse for it but tbh 3 month break after 6 episodes is silly
however I do think that lost is easily the best tv show on the box so I will be coming back for more punishment

IMO it would be better to start it later and run it completely through the season.... like normal TV over here. I don't like how RTE have started showing the first 6 eps then are taking a break like the states, sign of bad things to come if they start doing this with every american show. RTE had it right only starting to show a series when it was certain it could run the season completely through without breaks.

RTE used to do this with the new episodes of Friends. I remember tuning in Monday nights never been too sure if we were going to get a new episode or not.

I think the reason they have chosen to start showing the series early is because they realise they are losing viewers to a typical home-made Lost Season 3 DVD that might be making the rounds in the work place etc.

This has been an interesting debate and I guess it all depends on people's priorities. Some people don't like interruptions whereas other people (like me) have no patience and demand new episodes as soon as they are available.

an okay episode, thought the rest of this season was rubbish so far, cant wait till all this dull and dreary stuff is over and the are back to the green leafy things

    off topic....

good man for bringing battlestar galatica into it

I wonder will the escape from this island be as good as (massive bsg s03 spoiler)

    hmmm, doubt it

ok why don't the others let kate and sawyer go jack saves ben and then just go to the other island and kidnap them again for whatever purpose they originally wanted them for

sorry guys, can someone explain the jacob reference here.

i missed it in the episode.

    and shepard is sawyer. right?

Jacob is a new thing they threw in for that episode. Dunno what it means yet.

    Shepard is Jack's second name.

I presumed the reason was that Sky started to show it about 3-4 weeks after coming out in America and RTE decided to put it one earlier to avoid losing viewers to Sky. It happened with 24 and RTE really fcuked that up so they said we'll throw Lost on earlier than Sky.

How can you be nearly pregnant? Either you are or you aren't - it's like being a bit dead...

    :)

Anyhoo, she wanted to get pregnant so she wouldn't have to travel and therefore reveal her identity on her honeymoon. Maybe the husband was shooting blanks, or maybe she's barren (raising Arizona)

Already commented on this episode in the ireland thread but just wanted to agree about Kates armpits! It's gonna annoy me for the rest of my life now...:) Maybe she had laser hair removal...

Anyway great episode. I won't be able to wait til February!!!!!!

Was hoping for more on the eye-patch guy in the other hatch cos he seemed cool.

Oh and remember in the previous episode when Juliet shows Jack the video of her holding boards up. One of them read "some of us want change". Asides from herself, and Alex I don't think the rest of the Others seem to want change. They definitely don't want to kill Ben; "If you don't give the radio to Kate, the doctors gonna let Ben die" - Zeke.

Average episode. Didn't realise there is now a 13 week break and that makes it all the more disappointing. The biggest disappointment for me it that Lost has resolved itself from genuine 'What the...' moments to a series of local and for the most part petty soap style storylines in the last few episodes.

Seems mighty strange to me so far that, as well, Jack has not once asked the simple 'who are you, and how did you get here' question of 'the others.' Was great as well in one of the earlier episodes the shot of the carved out suburbia in the midst of the jungle. That was one of those great if increasingly rare puzzlers that leave you guessing.

Nathan Fillion wasted as well. Expected more. Hadn't thought of it either but Ethan does in fact look quite similar to him now that a few others have mentioned it.
