There was no myspace at the time. But they did have Usenet and even thoughI had never actually used it I blame Usenet.
Degsy I think I was quite unlucky and I think tourists know the Irish drink.
I don't see how you think I should have got a charge and a hiding, that would be excessive imo.

Garda is not plural, Gardaí is. One Garda, two Gardaí. See? Now read the title and apply what you have just learned. Not so much looking for a common agreement that all Gardaí are pricks any more since I'm only speaking about one Garda, is it? I suggest you try reading posts before you reply to them.

I suggest you get on with your little life..... and get a haircut, ya hippy.... :D

and please dont correct my grammer......makes you look even more childish..

As for Binomate... So you had "the worst experience I've ever had with a Garda today" (oh and by the way, Oleras referred to "all Gard" which being plural was correct:rolleyes: ), which culminated in the Garda in question listening to you whine about being 'savagely attacked' by Grandpa Simpson and only for your ninja reflexes, you could be on your way to the Mater, before he told you to fcuk off and be on your way. You poor little teddy bear.

So outraged were you by the episode, that after recovering from the shock and terror of having a pensioner swing a frail little fist at you, and the sheer tear inducing frustration that your plight was not championed by the law, that you skipped off down to Footlocker..?? Then when you suffered the further indignation of being rejected from a sports shop (hahaha), your first instinct was scurry off to the nearest interent cafe to whine about it to everyone else.
Well done son, you can take things out of context. No matter how you like to spin it, the point remains that the garda was discriminating against me. At no point did he listen to my side of the story simply because I had a hood on my head, which resulted in an inconvenience for me. Forgive me, oh Godly one, for being annoyed and wanting to rant a little after the experience. I should have known better than to act human.

Correction of grammar? Your post insinuated that the aim of my thread was to generalise about gardaí all being pricks, which is completely wrong. If you read my first post properly, you'd see this is clearly not the my aim.

Binomate, the attached item was found on Grafton St. yesterday afternoon. I think you might have dropped it..??

If by "human" you actually mean "like a big jessie", then you are in fact correct. At least youve learned your lesson now, and will conduct any future dealings with the GS with a modicum more savvy. You are to be congratulated on this personal growth.

maybe you should be banned from Grafton street as well.

You're lucky the garda didn't give you a toe up the hole for being a little bollix

Hey binomate was the old fella about 5ft 6 balding, unshaven with a stick - if so he blubbered a whole lot of expletives and threw a punch (miles off) at me because I apparently looked at him. Didn't bother me but it upset my kids and wife. He is always hanging around and has a serious problem with life so I'm taking your side of the story.

I'm not usually one for all that "fuck the gardaí" shite, but I had the worst experience I've ever had with a Garda today. I was walking down grafton street today. I walk pretty fast, I'm tall and my legs are long. Anyway, you know how it is. You're walking in between people on a crowded street. I'm not entirely sure how it happened but I was forced to walk between this old man and a group of chineese girls walking in front of me. I came pretty close to the old man which pissed him off for some reason. When I turned my head to say sorry about that, he threw a fist at me. This guy must have been about 70 years old. Luckily I reacted quickly enough to it and blocked it. At that point the old man called over a garda who just happened to be walking by, who for some reason hadn't witnessed this spectacle. I was trying to explain to him that this crazy old fuck had just swung a fist at me, only the old man started cutting in on top of me. He spun the story completely and said I had tried to hit him and that I had assaulted him by grabbing his arm. The garda turns to me and then asked me what happened. As I started explaining my story to him, he butts in and asks me why I'm wearing a hood. I'm thinking wtf? I asked him did it matter and if it was relivant to what happened? I like wearing my hood because it stops my hair blowing around the place which can be quite annoying, as those of you with longish hair probably know. He started questioning me about where I was going. At this stage he hadn't even heard my side of the story! After about another two minutes of trying to reason with him about how his questions had nothing to do with what had just happened he told me to "get the fuck out of here". I wasn't arsed with it all so I went on my way. I headed down to Footlocker at the bottom of Grafton St. and as I was going in I was stopped by the security guard and told to turn around. When I asked why I was told that he heard on the radio that I was causing trouble!

Is there not some kind of screening process in recruiting gardaí where they filter out all of the pricks? If I had his badge number do you think I could have reported him? I only wish I got it.

Instead of going around accusing others of being a prick, you could have avoided all the hassle by walking in a more reasonable manner with a bit moire care and attention for other pedestrians. Seems you were itching for it, and count yourself lucky it was an old man you bumped and not someone who would have decked you. I've many assholes walk around as though they own the streets and attitudes that brings grief down.

Practice long strides on quieter streets and next time you wont end be the prick for not getting there!

I am with Binomate on this one. As someone said, discipline is breaking down and with it the standards of professionalism in our police force are dropping. If the Garda is not prepared to listen to both sides of the story then whats the point.

After Hours is packed with Sun/Mail readers. Look at all the posts telling the OP to shut up and get a haircut. Its sickening. We need some sort of concentration camp for these Thatcherite wannabes.

Well I strongly suspect that Letterman and Sp@rtacus are trolls.
In fact i'm suspicious of anyone with that low a postcount flaming opions.

I would LOVE to trace the IP's of these guys and compare them to other registered posters. I don't know if vBulletin allows this, but I would strongly suggest mods request it with the management.

Nah, Spartacus seems reasonable light-hearted (seen him posting elsewhere, too)

Letterman is a classic Sun reader summed up perfectly by CiaranC

Well why don't you bite my bag.

Low post count= newbie. I'm so engrossed in the daily discourse that I have no time to stop and stare, let alone post my opinions on all the topics available.

Anyway 800 odd posts in over 5 years doesn't exactly shatter any keyboard speed records now does it??

FYI: not a sun reader as there are too many big words.

…“substandard FNGs”?? That’s hilarious. Thanks for your feedback horse, but that sort of obnoxious puerile guff says more about you than I. Tell me, when you encounter a newcomer in some form of RL social context, would you have sufficient bottle to refer to them as an FNG? Or do you reserve such laughable displays of discourtesy to when you feel suitably impervious behind the anonymity of a pc? So, I am relatively new to this caper. How long must one sit at your feet and bask in your reflected glory before being deemed ok to “flame opions” as Layke puts it (you wouldn't even see that sort typo in The Sun :D )? And by the way, I wasn’t aware that any form of yardstick or index was employed to vet the quality of post content on this site, but if it is, I would certainly not consider you best qualified to carry it given some of the slop I have seen you contribute. I am sure I've just bought myself copious amounts of more guff from you, but you’ll forgive me if I would rather stick hot needles in my eyes than read any more of it. All the best chief.

Wha'..??!. The cornerstone of Thatcherite social policy was the tenet that individualism superseded collectivism and as such would therefore encourage Binomate to grow his hair as long as he saw fit and subscribe to whatever sartorial aesthetic he chose? I am sure you were in fact aware of that and not, rather, throwing supercilious sound-bites around in a pretty transparent attempt to promote intellect.

    And finally Drax…

I wasn’t referring to three minutes wasted READING the thread but rather taking the p|ss out of my own lengthy reply. Yes it was a bit glib and facetious, but was tongue-in-cheek and certainly not intended to inspire the HATE that it has clearly invoked in you. I do apologise.

And also, professionalism in our police force is not dropping... it's always been p|ss poor with widespread corruption, institutionalised racism and ignorant "fcuk the gou's" being instilled on day 1 in Templemore.

Now there is 3 minutes I'll never get back :p

Anyway, I’m off finish reading my book, “How to win enemies and irritate people.” Well, that and The Sun

Actually we have a FNG in our dept this week and my first words to him were "so you're the FNG then? good to have you on board"

nice verbose post there "chief", glad to see the Sun remark had the desired effect, keep that standard up from here on in and you should be alright :p
