I think our education system should also be partly held responsible, it's a joke. There is a lot of crap taught that is of abosultely no relevance to us in later life. How about having a proper education system that includes health & nutrition, driving skills, budgeting and so on... things that everyone needs in later life.

Of course - blame the schools.......health and nutrition is covered (in an already overloaded curriculum) and most schools have healthy eating policies i.e. fizzy drinks and choc bars are not allowed in school.
Dental nurses visit schools and give talks on foods good and bad for teeth etc.
What do you expect - teachers doing the rounds of kids houses every morning checking that Mom is giving a healthy lunch?
Anyway, there are quite a few kiddie drinks on the market which are advertised as being "healthy" and "kind to your teeth" which are full of crap. The only drink a dental nurse will recommend to kids is water.

Do you think it would not be damaging to a child's self esteem to see a picture of themselves in a paper or magazine with a headline insinuating "look at this fat f****r" above it?

    damaing yes

but if it was that headline, it would be funny as hell :D

One solution to this problem would be taking the kiddies away from their parents completely and sticking them in "farms" where they grow up to eat whatever the f*ck you put on their plates. They would also be taught not to be whiny little muppets like their parents and not congregate in groups in doorways that I am trying to walk through. When they are ready, they could be released into society to lead productive, non-annoying lives. :) Or maturation chambers could work...like the Borg. *me likes the Borg*

Too many parents bring their kids to Mickey D's for a treat or just to keep them quiet, so many times I've heard it on the street. Public flogging for the parents I'd say.

"If you don't be quiet, then no McDonalds"

    :(

I cant deny I take my son for a treat - thats how it should be as opposed to a regular part of his diet. Its when its a regular occurance and they expect it all the time that it becomes a problem i think.

he still loves his vegetables and stews and pasta etc.His favourite foods are carrotts and brocolli!

A happy meal is actually tiny as well - either a hamburger or 4 chicken nuggets and less than a handful of fries, plus a banana and a drink of ribena.

He mostly goes just for the toy!
