I remember recording my own little radio news stories on tape as a kid and I reported on it that Margaret Thatcher had been blown up by a bomb in a hotel... the Brighton hotel bombing took place later that week.
Was she blown up? No, so you were wrong :p

She was but they stiched her back together again. As you can see, they did a great job. She looks totally realistic.

most vocal one was a guy on the USENET claiming that there would be a major strike in NYC on the 11th.

He stopped posting on 9/11. But loads of people reported it.

USENET archives Are aka Google Groups, right? So we don't need to see what people reported after the fact....the original posts should all be referenceable on GG, timestamped and all.

The only common one I'm aware of is a misreporting of a warning by a poster ncamed Xinoehpoel, which was posted on Aug 31, warning about the following day.

Don't suppose you have more details?

Regardless of whether or not peopel on USENET did issue warnings, the thing is that if you check, you'll find there were huge amounts of warnings about all sorts of dates - the example I gave being just one example.

If the vast majority of these are wrong, but one eventually coincides with a real event....is that really significant?

Its like suggesting that there's something spooky about looking at a stopped watch but finding it tells you the correct time. Sounds impressive, right? What if the watch was checked every 2-5 minutes for the past few weeks, and we don't mention all the times its wrong? Still such a coincidence?

As for the kids' warning in the OP...maybe he did know something. But does it really matter? Is anyone going to suggest that teachers report every odd thing said to them by a kid, and that all such odd things get investigated by anti-terror units (or whatever)???
