The kid on Sept 10th 2001 - coincidence?

Hi, there are many serious and disturbing elements surrounding the attack on America in 2001 but perhaps the most bizarre was a kid (who is of Pakistani origin) in a school just outside New York. His parents had recently emigrated to the US just before the attacks.

Anyhow he was in class on the 10th and the teacher noticed he was distracted and looking out the window toward the Manhatten skyline.

The teacher inquisitively asked 'What are you looking at?'

The boy pointed toward the World Trade Centre Towers and siad 'Do you see those buildings there?'

To which the teacher replied 'yes'.

'They wont be there this time next week' the boy said.

To this day, the FBI which followed this up after the attacks, still dont know - a: why the kid said what he did and b: how he could possibly have had any knowledge of what would unfold the following day. The teacher never said anything at the time (and why would she, kids say strange things all the time)

Anybody else heard about that? It was on a documentary a week or two back. Coincidence - this kid just happened to say something perhaps he didnt mean to say. It would surely have to be very coincidental if that was the case. Its probrably just one of those bizarre moments........any thoughts?

It may have been 'The Path to 9/11' on BBC or it could have been 'Inside 9/11' on Nat Geo. I cant actually remember which one it was but it caught my attention.

Oh yeah, thats completely normal behaviour for a child, just ignore it!

If she didn't say anything to anyone at the time then its probably not true.

No I think its true alright. Bare in mind too that at the time it would have been dismissed as nothing had happened. The FBI confirmed what the boy said but there was no explaination. I dont even remember what age he was.

This program had a voice over. It was a documentary. It must have been 'Inside 9/11' then. Someone must have seen it.

I remember now! It definatley was 'Inside 9/11'. The last part of it and it was a school in Brooklyn. I just thought of the sattelite imagery they were using to show locations. Anyone else see this program?

I have seen one called Inside 9/11 but it is a series of programmes on National Geographic, not sure if it is the same one. It went through Al Qaeda origins and then through what happened on the morning. I remember them showing the hijacked planes on radar and someone from air traffic control asking if this was some sort of training mission to which they replied no, it wasn't and the plane had been hijacked.

A voice over doesn't make it a documentary. There were warning before and after the program to say if it contained fictional elements.

I remember recording my own little radio news stories on tape as a kid and I reported on it that Margaret Thatcher had been blown up by a bomb in a hotel... the Brighton hotel bombing took place later that week.

When I was 9, 10 and 11, I picked the winners of the Cheltenham Gold Cup. I didn't pick the winner of the English Grand National 'til I was 17...

This is like all those stories that were passed around after 9/11.

Eg. A friend's sister's friend was shopping and saw someone drop their wallet. The person gave the wallet back to the owner who in turn thanked her, and for her goodwill warned her not to go to London on May day. There's countless variations of the story - basically someone does a good deed and they are warned of an imminent bombing or attack or what have you.

Anybody know anybody whos bday is on 9/11? Spacers !

I checked on this years ago. It is actually true and the actual report is not unique. There were a large number of such reports from various people. The most vocal one was a guy on the USENET claiming that there would be a major strike in NYC on the 11th.

He stopped posting on 9/11. But loads of people reported it.

It was one of the most public best kept secrets. Makes you wonder what was in Bushes report he never read.

He couldn't even finnish "My Pet Goat" how do you expect him to read a report with big words and stuff.

The problem is that the Americans have created all these different agencies, CIA FBI DEA ATF NSA and none of them knew what the other was up to. One agency blowing the cover of another agency was common. There was also rivalry between the likes of FBI and CIA and they were always squabbling over whose remit certain cases belonged to.

It was this "left hand no knowing what the right hand is doing" resulted in the perpetrators of 9-11 to slip under the radar. no pun intended)

I do. And I make an extra effort to acknowledge it too since it will now forever be overshadowed by reports and comemmorations of that tragedy. It's gotta be a real bummer.

She was but they stiched her back together again. As you can see, they did a great job. She looks totally realistic.

USENET archives Are aka Google Groups, right? So we don't need to see what people reported after the fact....the original posts should all be referenceable on GG, timestamped and all.

The only common one I'm aware of is a misreporting of a warning by a poster ncamed Xinoehpoel, which was posted on Aug 31, warning about the following day.

Don't suppose you have more details?

Regardless of whether or not peopel on USENET did issue warnings, the thing is that if you check, you'll find there were huge amounts of warnings about all sorts of dates - the example I gave being just one example.

If the vast majority of these are wrong, but one eventually coincides with a real event....is that really significant?

Its like suggesting that there's something spooky about looking at a stopped watch but finding it tells you the correct time. Sounds impressive, right? What if the watch was checked every 2-5 minutes for the past few weeks, and we don't mention all the times its wrong? Still such a coincidence?

As for the kids' warning in the OP...maybe he did know something. But does it really matter? Is anyone going to suggest that teachers report every odd thing said to them by a kid, and that all such odd things get investigated by anti-terror units (or whatever)???
