Not sure what to call this....

Sometimes when im tired, id would start day dreaming, now i am not asleep. but sometimes in my day dream for e.g i would be walking and stepping off a curb, and then alll of a sudden i would jump up in real life or jerk in someway. This has happened alot recently and its quite strange when im in a group of people, because everyone is like wtf!

I hate that feeling, just as you snap out of it, it feels like daggers in the back for a split second. And I find it never just happens once, it happens a few times. some of the 'dreams' would be like you said stepping off a curb, tripping (not drug affiliated) and general altitude change

Happens to me too. Not while day dreaming though, just when i am sleeping, all of a sudden I jump, sometimes falling off the bed ;)

Is this an outcome of sleep deprivation?

prolly is, it happens to me when im knackered, i zone out and day dream and i get startled by trippin on one of them goddamned roots that follow me through most of my dreams trippin me up and i jerk awake. sleep seems to not only reduce the zoned out day dreamin but the jerkin happens marginally less often too. I'll mutter during dreams/day dreams too from time to time when im shatteed

I get this most nights. I fall asleep for I'd say about five or ten minutes then all of a sudden I know I'm about to wake up and bang - the jolt. It's so much of a routine now that I know that as soon as I wake up I'm going to fall back asleep within five minutes. Head melt really.
