    Jaysus DB - Chill out!
You've been keeping your head down & it was nice & harmonious.
All of a sudden it pops up & you come out with that sh1te to kill the nice atmosphere in this thread.
I've stood up for you a couple of times recently, but I'm p1ssed off now.
I don't know if it has escaped your notice but there's a few of us enjoying a virtual "natter" about Austin & what's going on there.

Why don't you amuse yourself by starting a new thread "Why do some fcukers use AH as a personal blog?"
That'll keep the pedants busy for a while.

Is it just me or does the thought of WWM sending Christmas cards to anyone sound unlikely?!
Seriously though guys, get a room!:p

Pvt. Joker - You gotta get out to The County Line Smoke House & Grill for some good texan grub. Don't bother eating for at least 24 hours beforehand!

why do Irish people take foreign holidays and then spend all their time in Irish pubs?
isn't the idea of a holiday to get away from it all?

Dude - Fadó has been there a few years now. Was there back in '97 & spent a very drunken evening drinking Jamesons & playing chess with a crazy chick with lightning strikes tattooed all over her - including her hands, neck, face, ears - the lot! She had a dog in her handbag too. But she was no Paris Hilton. ;)

Have you been out to see the bats flying down by the river yet? An amazing sight!

i think i saw that chick walking around...now i know why Austin's unofficial slogan is "Keep Austin Weird"

we're going to see the bats this weekend. We walked under the bridge during the day and you can hear millions of bats screaching

Aye I was in Fadó back in 99 and 2000...the barman was from balbriggan, stood our party a few free shots....it's looks like it's been done up since then. Usualy I avoid irish pubs like the plague when I'm overseas but the american girls we were with wanted to see what it was like.
As for the heat, yeah desert heat is a lot more manageable....I stayed down on the coast most of the time, where the humidity was a lot higher, but there was always a good breeze in off the gulf.

it's pretty hot in the sun at mid day, but each night drops to around 70 and breezy. really nice.

we're going to fado this weekend. I need a place just to sit back and chill

Hey ya pvt.joker. Pighead lives near a village called Bradstown (Brad being a predominantly American name) and your living in Austin (Predominantly Irish Name). Have you any explanation as to why cross atlantic name swaps seem to have radically increased over the past 7 years?

Cork was declared a republic for about 2 or 3 days during the Civil War, I thought everyone knew that.

What a time to move to Texas, just when we hit the August heat wave, I think your probably more used to this heat than i am. Austin is certainly a place i will be visiting or maybe not just go to sea world in San Antonio instead. No but i hear Austin is really nice, hill country isn't it?

Believe it or not, it's not as hot in Austin as it was in Philly when we left. It's not as humid here, doesn't bother me at all.

And you can't just skip Austin. There's a ton to see and do here. San Antonio is boring besides The Alamo and the riverwalk. If you come to Austin, hit up Lake Travis for the day. The water is about 85 degrees right now. Or go to Barton Springs if you want to see some beautiful chicks walking around. Downtown is really a good time at night also.

Oh and a trip to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels (40ml S of Austin)is one of the best days out if you like the water. Their water "rollercoasters" are fun²
