Just thought I'd vent a little gripe of mine. I was out with my girlfriend, another couple and a single friend of mine in Dicey Reilly's pub in Dublin city centre on Saturday night. The weather was good, theres a nice beer garden, so on the whole it was a good looking night! we were at a private function (30th birthday)…

If there were any changes to the details they were very, very minor. You're assassinating him for that. That's unfair, especially since he had no idea he was going to receive such scrutiny when he posted.

To Dragan.... I should have said most bouncers in the last part of my initial post. Obviously it's not fair to tar everybody with the same brush. That said, a friend of mine worked as 1 for a year and said the scumbags he worked with would turn people away because of stupid shit like not liking relatives of the punter. This isn't isolated, alot of bouncers in Limerick are genuinely a$$holes.

Yes I was happy for my sister to get in but my first thought was 'typical, 2 pretty girls walk in without issue, my friends look like metallers: No go'

Thats exactly what I'm doing on behalf of my friends and I. Bouncers judged my friends as not good enough because they had long hair, I judged bouncers as having a supremist attitude and good old fashioned bigotry.
Again I find nice polite bouncers the exception rather than the rule, but my friend was one so I know ye exist somewhere.

Have to say this thread has been very enjoyable to read. From fillspectres initital cutting argument, to his confused rantings, to his final banning.

Surely Laslo or \m/_(>_<)_\m/ would be on here standing up for themselves.

I know and have worked with many of them and despite trying to be a nice chap came off far worse for the scene down there so i can only agree with you. Especially now as more of the clubs down there end up closing. Whats left now? The Market which i hear has pretty much become run by a certain family, The Icon which is not the worst place but seems to only have one or two solid doormen left, and Trinity Rooms, which was always a "whatever excuse we can think up of we'll use" kind of place! :eek:

Sadly enough on a Friday night pretty much ANYWHERE it will not happen. Females are the number on currency of clubs. The drink just as much as guys, as less likely to end up in violent situations ( though for my money when they do get violent it is far more difficult to deal with ) and if a club is full of fine women it looks good. I once got a bollocking for stop a group of girls, none of them, not one, could provide ID so i said no way. The manager was standing in the door and demanded to know why i had stopped them. I said "It would be illegal to let them in" he replied "I don't give a ****, you ever turn away pussy like that again and i'll fuc*ing kill you." I took out my ear piece, handed him my walkie talkie and told him i was leaving, but to do me the favour of repeating the threat now that i no longer worked for him. He went white as a ghost!!! I chuckled the whole way home!

It's a sad state of affairs but the pub and club scene, especially for doors is pretty harsh. I , like an idiot, used to live by my principles and what i felt was important. THis did not make my life very easy, not did it make me a lot of friends. I am not a turn the other way kinda guy, if i see a fellow doorman up to something i will call him on it too. Needless to say i was not liked by the rough crowd, but i never wanted to be so this did no bother me.

The important thing to me was that i could go home happy knowing i had done a good job.

Man, was i ever an idiot!!!!

Bought a property a while back, hes been driving folks mad in the Accomodation/Property forum for months.

I dont think '\m/_(>_<)_\m/' is him, but Im fairly convinced 'Laslo' could be. He knew there are ways around being detected with multiple accounts, a simple google would have showed how trivial it is.

Anyway, hes talking himself into a siteban over in feedback. He still insists its not him. The guy lies so much he convinces himself. Its freakish.

So in conclusion, some bouncers are tossers while some are OK, some barstaff are scorpy wenches, others are OK, but fillspectre is certifiable.

Exactly, and it only took us 230+ posts, 11 pages and 2 days to get the results.
