Actually I'd blame the social structure that creates a place like this where 8 people are this stupid. Personal responsibility is fine but with a rate like that questions about education must be asked.
The guy is more to blame for repeating the same mistake so many times.

bad parental advice for the guy and all the girls involved.

when i was in my teens, my father would always shout after me, as i was leaving the house, "wear a ****ing comdom". it worked. i always did.

or course, you could also assume that all eight involved are thick as fu(k and ignored their parents advice.

In my case my mam told me simply don't do it and you could not get condoms from the chemist but then you could and they wouldn't give them to a teenagers.
That isn't even 20 years ago. Some chemists don't stock them or the pill either to this day.

I as a teenager was aware that my parents were wrong as were the state and the school. Nowis a different time and the state should override parents wishes and that of a school. Ignorance kills and generally makes life un pleasant.

is it in some town that is the last bastion of catholic Ireland?

condoms are on the counter in my local chemists. the local supermarket has them beside the checkout where you buy cigarettes.

my local pub didn't have a condom machine, but then they built another bar to cater to the younger crowd and put a rubber machine in there.

Some of the old chemists in Dublin. They spoke about this about 6 months ago in the papers and radio. Some doctors won't give the pill out either apparently.

When my girlfriend in college in 1993 went to get the pill from the college doctor the nurse tried to talk her out of it even saying "he doesn't love you". Don't forget the pregneancy advise places advertised are often catholic organisations trying to stop abortions. It isn't all relic stuff.

Seven kids (so far) from the same dad in a small enough town. Imagine if some of the kids ended up with each other in a disco in a 10 years time and realise after going out a few weeks they have the same dad.....that always scares me.
And if he doesnt have any contact with them imagine when he is 63 and finds a younger woman it could even be his daughter....After all 13 years isnt such a big age gap any more. Scary!! I wonder how many he'll have when he's 30. Works out nearly one a year so far.

Not impossible. When I lived in Wales a guy I know called Ritchie was snogging the face off this chick in the pub in a neighbouring town when someone came up to him and said "do you know that's actually your sister mate???" now I know contraception is meant to be a 2 way thing but I cant understand girls not using it. lads like this can get a girl pregnant and walk away - girls are going to be the ones literally left holding the baby so why aren't they protecting themselves??!
