First of all, and I want to get this straight: Dont pass a comment off like that at me. You dont know me and I most certainly dont hate the English (Im half f**cking English for gods sake).

Secondly your taking this thread way to seriously. Lighten up.

Aplogies... when I say "you" I meant you as in plural...

There is a serious amount of anti-English feeling though, and people hide behind the media. annoys the hell out of me. Every poiunt I've ever heard about the British media can be mirrored by a similar incident in the Irish media. Point in case: WC 1966, Delaney 1956. Keane's quitting, Rooney's foot. They parade if they win, we parade if we qualify.

If you (generally speaking - not you personally) wanna support Brazil, support Brazil. If you wnna support France, support France. Or Togo. But if someone can give me a damn good reason (other than the obvious) as to why they're supporting cheering for Paraguay on June 10th, I'll accept it's not bitterness and historical hatred.

And I don't wanna lighten up. So there!!:D

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    I still cling to Louth's all-ireland win in 1957.

If that's all you have to boast about then you're gonna boast about it.

For years the only reason I didn't like to see England win was because of their (minority) of hooligan supporters. Nowadays (I hope) this is no more a problem and I admire their team on paper. I know for a fact that if Ireland were in and it were the English sitting at home they would be wishing us well...

Plan away - they are second favourite's in the betting for a good reason - on paper they are a savage squad...all depends if Sven can transfer whats on paper to grass...Its an interesting World Cup. I just hope its not a freak one like 2002 - I wanna see the quality through to the latter stages and get some quality crunch matches going.

The media are the arrogant ones. Read the Sun anyday of the week until the world cup and you will soon see why.;)

    The Sun is for pr*cks.

Its hype and arrogance regarding the England team's chances is legendary.

So - why do Irish people continually read it and then complain about its 'arrogance'?

FFS its perfectly natural to plan for this. I assume the parade will be through London with a potential attendance of millions (Londons population is over 10M)

Whats the betting Germany, France, Brazil and most of the top seeds have similar plans. Its not arrogance. Its just common sense.

Same as the route for the Arse parade being marked out in advance.

Or that congratulatory press release for Brian Kennedy.

These things (well maybe not Brian lol) have to be planned for.

It's ironic that the same idiots that refuse to support England in the WC are the very same idiots that 'support' (financially prop up?) English premiership clubs the rest of the year. D'uh.

I can't believe some of this thread !!!!!!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes, the British media will go overboard about England, 66 and all that. But it is the BRITISH media. The BBC, is the British state broadcaster paid for by the British people. They are perfectly entitled to have their biases, but its up to the English Scots Welsh and a few folk in the North to get their knickers in a twist about it. But

As the complainants are living in the Republic Of Ireland, where last I heard, RTE is the IRISH state broadcaster, paid for by the Irish people.they might ask themselves a few questions.

Have you paid your licence fee to the British Government ?
If not, do you know there is a £2000 fine and six months inside ?
Are you "stealing" TV programmes ? ;)
If you haven't paid for it, and you are supposed to be paying for it, and you are using it instead of the service you are paying for which caters for your nationa/regional interests arent some of your complaints really ridiculous.

Yep, you know they go overboard, but you don't have to watch it. Switch over. They ain't aiming it, nor making it for you anyway !

It's like buying a gay porno mag and complaining there are no nice birds in it. Or Angling Weekly and wondering where the features are on how to soup up your GTI. They know their audience, and their audience aint you.

As for the Sun, Star Mail and so on. You do know what they have and continue to write about the Irish that never makes it into the Dublin editions. And you are funding it ....

So laugh at them and ridicule and criticise them.

But don't take the stance that it is being forced down your throat. You have a choice not to

Sry I thought you were aiming that at me. Ive seen the error of my ways.:D

On a side note did anyone here John Giles on Newstalk last night talking about how he dosnt know how he would cope if England won the World Cup?. He said he wouldnt be able to read the papers for months (I presume he means the British papers). Id say years is more accurate;)
