I will be supporting any team thats playing against the english! It would be a nightmare to watch england win it. can you imagine how big headed their hooligan supporters would get!

We are exactly the same. Listen to the Irish commentators and fans anytime we have some success. In fact I'd say we are worse than them.

Ireland v England in the final.
    Ireland to win on Pennos.

They don't have to listen to us though. :) Seriously though, I don't think we're worse. The Sun published personal details of the referee who reffed England v Portugal and he ended up getting death threats. There was no question about it that Cambell's goal was correctly disallowed yet the English didn't want to believe it.

Don't get me started on John Motson.

So it all comes down to the fact that you read/ watch their media then. ;)

You don't HAVE TO listen to anyone.... You CHOOSE to.

And don't get me started on George Hamilton...!

    England to win!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Hope England win. And no, I'm not english. It'd be hypocritical of anyone to watch/follow premiership football teams and then be opposed to England winning.
Other than that you'd have to say Brazil because their football is so enjoyable.

Brazil for quality of football, and Australia for being fun :)

I'd love to see the Aussies do well. I'll cheer for England to get as far as the final and then lose on penalties because then there pain will be worse:D . I think Argentina and Holland are dark horses but if anyones thinking of betting on Spain a word of advice DON'T they never ever ever ever do any well due to internal cultural/political tensions no matter how good there players are. I learnt this one the hard way myself in the Euros.

Then by that logic I assume you also think it would be hypocritical for anyone to drink coca-cola and be opposed to what america did in Iraq and other places, or for someone to own a persian rug and speak out against Irans human rights violations.

I watch the Premiership because a lot of really talented players play in it (only two in the whole league are english that I think are top class though) and I support Man Utd because I had trials for them twice when I was younger, and they were some of the best expiriences of my life, and theres a history in my family of supporting them, I used to watch them play with my Da since I was 4 or 5 and the club holds a lot of good memories for me. That deosn't mean I have to want the English national team to win. Just like the fact that I watch Seria A and support AC Milan deosn't mean I have to want Italy to win, or that I watch Spanish football and support Barca it deosn't mean that it would be hypocrital of me not to want Spain to win it.

By Tommy's logic, you should support the national team of any league you watch. So you have to support Spain, Italy and England (and any others).

My conscience is clear. I watch no leagues; I'll support any national team that plays the game beautifully. Rules out quite a few...:D

Feck off. :) Anyone with an interest in sport in this country has to get their fix and if England win the world cup we'd be listening to it for months. I'm not saying it's a unique thing but I'm sure they'd say the same if we won it and our media took up such a big part of the English market.

I didn't want to start a real football debate but anyway. :) Terry was offside when Campbell hit the bar with a header. He stayed in that offside position right up until the goal. He had his arm rapped around Ricardo and Ricardo could not get his feet from the ground to jump for the ball:

So, while the foul is open to debate, Terry was offside anyway so the goal was correctly disallowed.

It's not that I don't want England to win, it's just that I don't think I could put up with the crowing for the next 40 years. You would think 1966 was just yesterday.

maybe Dwight Yorke can get these guys to pull a "San Marino"

But it's great coming from a country where people don't get suicidal when they don't win the world cup..

In all fairness, he did say it'd be hypocritical to be opposed to England winning it, not hypocritical to not support them. I'd cheer for England simply because of familiarity. Oh, and to wind up those bigoted twats who purposly cheer for whatever team England is playing! In fact, I'd love to see them win it for that sole reason.

Was there a suicide spike I haven't heard about when we lost ?

Lots of people abroad who turn off the set once thier national team get chucked out and ban all further watching or talking. French and Italians have done this to Irish people, that I know, who staying with them.

But can you imagine the grief in the tabloids if England don't perform .

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

    Who will I support?
    Whoever's winning!

Seriously though, as long as I get to see some good football I don't care. :D

So, are the English all killing themselves later or what?

Ikky Poo2 - You're going a bit far calling it bigotted. It seems 80% of the Irish don't want England to do well. If I had never read boards I would have said it was closer to 99%. :)

You sound like WWM. ;) He opens threads in the soccer forum when Rangers win the league, says he supports Rangers but then says he couldn't care about the Scottish league. :)
