I've met a couple, well when I say met I'm probably streching it. Delivered a pair of drum sticks to Adam out of U2, short and sweet, alrigh, alrigh, sign here, thanks. Drove that fat one from celeb big brother, the blond one, to Tallaght from the air port. Took delight telling Her NO when she asked was there anything in Tallaght to do. I think she was opening a centre up there. Drove that guy who does the club orange add, thank you for asking, very posh him.
And some news reader from RTE, who was pissed, told me who he was and how much he earned, which went up by 10 grand by the time he got out of the car, but he mustn't have been that famous because I've never seen him since.

    you mean father jack?

I saw Eddie Jordan in a restaurant in spain last week. Wouldn't have noticed him, except my Dad pointed him out.
Another time, I was out, and I was talking to these two guys who were in band together. One of them was about 20, and the other was about 40. I asked him (in a non offensive way) that it was unusal to see someone his age in a band with much younger people, and had he been in any other bands, before that. He said he was the lead singer for Carter the Unstoppable Sex machine, who I'd never heard of, so I asked him if they were any good, and he said that they Headlined Glastonbury and had a number one album.
I thought it was a joke, but then a week later, I randomly came across a reference to them, so I looked them up on Wikipedia, and sure enough, there was his picture.
Not really famous anymore, but still interesting.

was in america during summer 00, and was walking out of a shopping store in albany NY, and there was this huge stretch hummer going down the road, so i was staring at it as i walked out the door, only to throw the door into the face of dwayne johnson. didnt make full contact with him but i didnt even recognise him for a few mins cos he had his hand on his face.. kinda thought he would hit me, but when i realised who it was, i kinda shocked out and begged for his apology.

When I lived in South Beach, I was down at a hotel with a photographer friend of mine. He had been hired ot take some publicity shots of the pool area. Out on the deck, three small, young girls were tanning. The hotel staff told us they were VIPs, but for the life of my I couldn't figure out who they were. The girls saw his camera and got up immediately and left. I found out later it was Hilary Duff, a Disney movie star/singer.

A funnier story happened to a friend of mine. She was flying to Ft. Lauderdale and her seat was in the very back. Well, as she was boarding, a man in first class caught her eye. He looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't really place him. He got up from his seat and followed her back and offered to help her put her carry on bags up. She told him she didn't really need any help and sat down. And the man just stodd there trying to make some feeble conversation. She wasn't that interested so he wandered off, going up and down the aisles. She was still trying to figure out who this guy was, when a man a few seats in front of her said, "Hey, can I get your autograph!" The guy obligied him happily and then went back to his seat. So my friend finally got the courage to ask the man in front of her who that guy was.
    It was Vanilla Ice. :D

I met Michael Stipe upstairs in O'Connors Jeans about 7 years ago. I went up and said hello. He said "I don't sign autographs". F*ckhead.

I met Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, and Tony O'Carroll (original Oasis drummer) after their gig in the Tivoli in 94 (which cost me £6.50 I might add..). Had them sign my Definitely Maybe LP.

Other bands I met outside the Tivoli in the good old glory days include EMF, Ride, Inspiral Carpets, Gene.. amongst others.

Ray Davies of The Kinks signed my copy of his autobiography.

I've also met Elvis Presley's 2nd cousin, and the dude who built Elvis' custom 3 wheeler motorbikes in the 70's.

    K.

I was walking the Sheeps Head penninsula down in west Cork last september and was doing a bit of map reading on the side of the road before heading up into the hills when this fancy ass lexus pulled up alongside me. The guy waved me over so I ran to the car and opened the passenger door. He offered me a lift, so I explained that I was walking the whole circuit so he was alright. Besides he was kind of giving me the glad eye. We chatted for a bit and I thanked him for stopping by to offer me a lift.
It was only when he drove off that I realised that it was Christy Moore. I think I didn't recognise him 'cos he wasn't covered in sweat.
Still fair play to him for stoping off.
Funny that, I met Christy Moore and didn't recognise him either! Though it was when I was about 12 and only knew him as the guy that sang the "don't forget your shovel" song... I was building sandcastles on the beach with my little brother and what turned out to be Christy's kids, T'was my Dad that recognised him and told us who he was later on.
