Nice to see it's not an mcd gig, I was afraid now that Opeth had gotten "big" that they'd go over to the darkside. Vicar St eh? Just over four years ago I saw them in the Shelter. Who would have thought they'd end up moving up in the world and playing next door? As much as I love them I never thought they'd ever be more than an underground band.

thats what signing to roadrunner does to ya!

this'll be the biggest gig DME has promoted yet, i'd be shocked if it didnt sell out tbh...

    should be exciting!!

The Ambassador seemed a little odd at first as MCD own it, and DME were apperantly the ones working behind the scenes. I reckon MCD charge outside promoters a hefty sum to rent out the place.

Vicar Street is a lovely switch though, surprising as very few metal bands get booked there. Looking forward to this.

I think the all ages thing has a lot to do with the venue choice, it makes sense as it's a big move for DME to put on a gig this size, and with the added bonus of the kids being able to get in it should be great......I really hope it sells out, but not too quickly - I'm a bit strapped, have so many gigs to go to....

Going to be seeing Opeth at the Roskilde festival in Denmark. Alright. Cannot wait.

So how will Opeth live number three live up to the previous gigs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 951 ✭✭✭Prezatch

Admitedly I hadn't even heard of Opeth the last time they played here. What were the performances like? Did they play a broad range of stuff?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

It was mainly stuff from Blackwater Park and Deliverance with the odd older track thrown in. The first time was a bigger mix of things as far as I remember. Both were great though. Really great.

    Today on tickets.ie
Just got mine. I dont understand booking fee and transaction fee though.
Two fees going to the site for selling them and a third for posting them out.

My first time seeing Opeth live so should be good.

    Edit - bit slow there

Soundcellar told me they won't be on sale untill next week, I did put down a deposit though. They are not available through ticketmaster.

Ah the junior cert. Such a meaningless waste of time.

Sound cellar won't have tickets until Tuesday.

    K, I'm going to this!
    Excellent.
Do I have to go to Dublin to get a ticket as I don't have a CC. :(

not too sure, I know there will be tickets on sale in Cork and Belfast, if I were you I'd post in the Opeth thread on www.metalireland.com it's in the gigs section, the promoter "H" will be more than happy to tell you if tickets are on sale in Sligo or Galway - or if there's any other way of getting them.........

Well, I gave sound cellar a ring, and asked them to hold onto a ticket for me. Fairly handy that way.

    Ah, indeed!

Also I forgot I have a 3V voucher and/or somebody I know in Dublin could just pick me one up if I ask them, I assume.
