the date isn't completely finalised yet - but pretty much, as it's highly unlikely they'd be able to move their slot at Donnington to accomodate having this gig on the 10th......

looking forward to seeing who's supporting.....

also a huge thing for Dublin Metal Events, hopefully this draws a big crowd.......

Why do all the decent metal bands coming over here keep playing the fecking Ambassador?*

*Alright, "a lot" of the "decent" (respective to personal opinion) metal bands who've been here recently/are coming soon. For those of you who might be inclined to start an argument over something like that.

I'll post the details here when they are up on MetalIreland, unless they are already here.....

Because other medium venues won't have a metal crowd for fear of damage.

Thank you Thaedydal :) Typical that the most obvious answer was the one that didn't occur to me.

So I guess I was dreaming when I saw Obituary in the music centre and Rollins Band in Vicar St?

Granted that Rollins band was a few years ago

this is NOT confirmed yet, DME are trying to get them over the 10th, failing that the 12th is looking likely. but its still in the early stages, the OPETH webmaster apparently jumped the gun a little bit by announcing those dates when they're not 100% confirmed yet.

as always check the official DME site or Metalireland for more upto date info...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

    like I already said.......:D

I think I'm going to have to pass on them this time. Going to Tool in Paris and possibly the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham so need to save my pennies.

pretty much guaranteed they won't be playing the 10th - it's very unlikely they'll be able to change their slot in Donnington to play here ???

    OPETH
    Plus Guests

    Vicar St., Dublin
    Monday 12th June 2006
    Tickets €30

Also this is an All Ages gig. Beers will still be served in the bar area, just not allowed into the stage area. So you can still have a beer before and between bands etc......

Nice to see it's not an mcd gig, I was afraid now that Opeth had gotten "big" that they'd go over to the darkside. Vicar St eh? Just over four years ago I saw them in the Shelter. Who would have thought they'd end up moving up in the world and playing next door? As much as I love them I never thought they'd ever be more than an underground band.

thats what signing to roadrunner does to ya!

this'll be the biggest gig DME has promoted yet, i'd be shocked if it didnt sell out tbh...

    should be exciting!!

The Ambassador seemed a little odd at first as MCD own it, and DME were apperantly the ones working behind the scenes. I reckon MCD charge outside promoters a hefty sum to rent out the place.

Vicar Street is a lovely switch though, surprising as very few metal bands get booked there. Looking forward to this.

as am I. Fabulous venue to see them in. :)

I think the all ages thing has a lot to do with the venue choice, it makes sense as it's a big move for DME to put on a gig this size, and with the added bonus of the kids being able to get in it should be great......I really hope it sells out, but not too quickly - I'm a bit strapped, have so many gigs to go to....

Going to be seeing Opeth at the Roskilde festival in Denmark. Alright. Cannot wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

So how will Opeth live number three live up to the previous gigs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 952 ✭✭✭Prezatch

Admitedly I hadn't even heard of Opeth the last time they played here. What were the performances like? Did they play a broad range of stuff?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

It was mainly stuff from Blackwater Park and Deliverance with the odd older track thrown in. The first time was a bigger mix of things as far as I remember. Both were great though. Really great.

    Today on tickets.ie
Just got mine. I dont understand booking fee and transaction fee though.
Two fees going to the site for selling them and a third for posting them out.

My first time seeing Opeth live so should be good.

    Edit - bit slow there
