We got Clown Town tattoos and piercers here in Ennis....talk to Tadhg for tattoos or Briona for piercing.

BTW, the age restriction on piercings in this country is bull****. Tattoos i can understand, but piercings?....seriously.

Try a.w.o.l in ennis too aongus(spell?) is excellent.

For portrait work in this country I would seriously consider JMD Bodyart in Waterford if you're willing to travel. I've yet to see someone in this country with the same quality of shading that's essential for portrait work. His work featured in Skin Deep magazine a couple of years ago on a guy from Tipperary who had portraits of serial killers all around his waist.

Check out the new guy, Tony, in the Stevens Green Studio His portfolio is amazing. He's just come back from the US where he's worked for the last 17 years, so loads of experience.
If the voucher is transferable to the Abbey St. Studio the artists there are pretty good.

Just got an email form SnakeBite saying that their prices are going up as of from Paddy's Day this year.
Thought here'd be the best place to let people know to get their skates on if their planning on getting anything done.

hey just looking for a little advice.am looking to get a cover up done ,does anyone know someone whos got one done ?thanx

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 919 ✭✭✭Shelli

I have seen a few covers done by Debbie in Celestial ring, fantastic is the only word for them, she really has an eye for it, it's hard to pick a new design that will cover an old tat well, ecpecially if the tat was a big dark one but she seems to have the knack alright.

    Hey there,

Was wondering if anyone could help me.

Im looking to get my tounge pierced as a present to myself for my birthday! lol And i was hoping to find somewhere reputable and obviously clean, but also somewhere not to pricey.

Ideally im looking to spend around 40 yoyo (not inc bar's) and must be in county kerry (ldeally Tralee)

A friend of mine told me of a place in Tralee near the Kerry radio studio and THINKS it should'nt be more than 40 quids.

Has anyone else heard/been to this place, or know of any others?

    Thanks,

A guy called Maurice has opened up in Tralee recently, he started out in tattoo zoo in cork and was piercing there for years, he set up his own place called metal urges in killarney a few years back, but this year moved it to Tralee. I imagine he's still going under the name of metal urges, I'm not sure.
But he'll do a good job on ya. He pierced me for years, he's highly recommendable.

I have no idea, I don't have his new number, I kinda lost contact with him in the last few months. But Thephantomsmask got pierced there with him recently I think, so she'll probably be on and be able to tell you soon enough. If not I'll be talking to people who are still in contact with him during the week and I'll ask them and I'll post it up.

Oh thanks very much! Jus drop me a Pm when you hear anything! thanks:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭Thephantomsmask

*Lolly* - He's at the bottom of Rock st. where the Bin Ban art gallery used to be, at the back of Shaw's. I had his number but my phone got stolen on Friday:( I'm not sure about about prices but I'd say about 40 would be right. Danny, who used to pierce in the studio near Kerry radio is gone, last time I was talking to him he was planning on opening a studio nearer to his home town. AFAIK that studio doesn't have a piercer at present so go to see Maurice, he did a great job on large guage nipple piercings for me.

Sean has started piercing in From the Gunn in Maine Street Tralee.
Haven't heard anything, one way or the other yet.

Id just like to relay an experience of mine... Got my neck pierced there two months ago.. After about six weeks it got a little bit nasty looking... Id been cleaning it well, but i just put it down to bad luck..

Got it done in Metal Works in Galway, but as i amnt living on that side of the country, i went into Dub to Snakebite to get someone to take a look at it.

They were absolutely lovely to me in there.. they took the piercing out as it was badlly infected.. But they were in a state of shock over the jewellry they took out.. They told me it was of no surprise that my neck got infected. The bar they used on me was wrong. My neck was clamped when i got pierced too... apparently that shudnt have been done either.

So e60 for two permanent scars on my neck.

Recommendation, Metal Works, Galway never. But, have to say the lads in Snakebite were absolutely lovely an really knew wat they were doing. Dont fall for the lovely professional looking appearance of Metal Works, like i did.

metal works in galways has a bad rep among the ppl i know. my aunt got a just a little flower done there (impulse decision one day out shopping) and its really blurry after only a year or so. i think that might be due to the amount of time spent in the sun but tbh it didnt look great even when it was freshly done.
whats the thoughts on irish ink? i've heard good and bad (like any place i guess) and wanted to add to my foot but i got my original tattoo in new york so i've no where in ireland i've been to before. im in galway but since im going to dublin for a bit this summer any suggestions on where to go for black designs would be great.

Dont clutter this thread up with chat please, it is there for a specific purpose, to list tattooists and piercers, if you want to chat then start a thread yourself.
Not angry with you just letting you know with you being new and wanting people to be friends, dont start out wrong :D

    Hi,
My boyfriend has a tattoo shop in Kathmandu, Nepal. I will be returning to Ireland soon, and would like to send him some new tattoo equipment, machine, needles, etc.
Any ideas where I can purchase such items in Dublin? Or is it necessary to order from overseas?
Any information will be much appreciated.
    best wishes,
    Louise

hi im thinking of getting a piercing on on the top of my ear, its like a bar thingy (technical term i know lol) across the top. whats the name of it and out of curiousity whats the pain like and healing time like? im not bothered about the pain or cost i just want to know what its like and called since im travelling from galway to get it done (i read Cleenas post on metalworks for piercings so am scared ****less to go there).

sounds like a scaffold to me...are you talking about one that goes through two sites on your ear? If so, healings about 6 months to a year. They can be tricky enough. Don't sleep on it, cos it'll delay healing and it'll hurt. Actually getting it pierced...um..my first one hurt, my second one didn't...I think people generally find them sore enough to get done though..but ya know, eacht to their own and all...!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭antifuse

I was going to correct you and say that it's called an industrial, but apparently here and in the UK they actually *do* call it a scaffold. Go figure. Any way, if you want to find more information on it, you can search for an industrial as an alternative name. My personal healing time was pretty quick - like 3-4 months, but I was pierced with 2 rings initially and got the barbell put in at 6 months. Pain is the same as getting any piercing in the cartilage of your upper ear, it's just that you get two at once. (The number of people I get asking me "Did that hurt?" is astounding. Even people with multiple cartilage piercings themselves!) Not really that bad, but hardly a picnic either. And if you are undecided as to which side you want to get done, think of which side you normally sleep on. You will quickly get used to waking up in the night as you accidentally roll over onto it.
