Magic Numbers have been added to T in the Park so thats 99% probability of them to be added to the Oxegen lineup.

What are they like putting The Who on? The Who are a great band and all but the people who are into them aren't going to want to go to a muddy festival to be surrounded by teenagers all day.
That is true to a point, but many were hoping they played slane, which is more unsuitable IMO. In slane they would have had 2-3 support acts. Thing with the festivals is people like the fact they can see bands that they would not ordinarily go to (like james brown), they usually get great receptions from younger fans. At slane they are THE headline, oxegen is different. I cant wait to see them and would prefer it to the point.

The only thing that pisses me off is that the good stuff is always on at the same time and you end up torn between 2-3 stages.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - meh.... I haven't seen them play so maybe if there's no one else on at the same time I'll go see them
The Who - great despite the obvious missing members
The Strokes - before Monday's gig... meh..... now a good reason to go
Kaiser Chiefs - stop whoring your average album around and start on a new one thanks. In other words.... no.
Franz Ferdinand - good live.... yeah maybe
    Bellx1 - meh
Arctic Monkeys - one of the main reasons to go
Richard Ashcroft - No. The Verve great, solo career awful
Sigur Ros - the single reason why you should go
    Manu Chao - meh
    Primal Scream - sh*t band
    Damian Marley - eh... no.
    Felix Da Housecat - meh
    David Morales - no
    The Magic Numbers - no

Provisional lineup isn't crap but it isn't great either. I don't believe it's gonna top last year.

TBH if I am to go this year again (which I'm likely to) it will need maybe 2 of Morrissey, Muse, Kings Of Leon, Kasabian to convince me.

Price increase is unfair but expected because it's MCD. I'm dreading the price of food, drink and merchandise this year. :( If they haven't drastically improved the basic facilities such as washing, toilets etc. this year then I won't be going back in the future...... health and safety wise in 2005 it was a sheer disgrace.

Gas thing is MCD never listen to the paying customer. They'ed do well to look at boards every now and again because a lot of people who will/or intend to go to Oxegen use boards. As Damien Dempsey said 'So Greedy, Greedy, Greedy, Greedy, Greedy!'

Re: Underage Camping + Confistication of Alcohol

you will not have a problem if you're 16/17 getting in to camp, they do not ask anything at the gate, in fact, i had a harder time getting in on a day pass then my friend who was camping!

They DO attempt to confiscate alcohol from minors btw...
my friend was asked for id when the guy saw the bottle in his bag. he was 18, so no problem. But i'm sure he would've taken it (maybe just for himself) if id wasn't produced.

Do they search bags when your bringing them into the campsite area?

    depends..

if there's a huge queue, you might be okay, but i personally know of 2 people who had their bags searched, one who had drugs confiscated also...

placebo and james brown are confirmed according to the oxegen website

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Hmm... Placebo. Perhaps Sunday can get a little more interesting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 knox1664

Is James Brown playing AGAIN?! Fair enough he's a leg-end an all but I wasnt very impressed last year tbh. Bit stilted or held-back or somethin. And have no interest in Placebo whatsoever. Muse please. Oh, or Pink Floyd :D

Very Very very doubtful, they'll be pushing them up until the day before i would imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,452 ✭✭✭spartacus93

They wont sell out in the presale tomorrow anyway. Maybe on the 3rd, still not very likely. Although half of my school seems to be going, honestly everyone is talking about it. Although no one seems in a rush to buy their tickets.

You can easily survive with little money at Oxegen. My friend had €13 and she somehow did. Just go to Lidl before it and buy food. Thats what i did. Bring your own drink. Just never buy anything there. Im gonna try on less than €20 if i end up there instead of some other festival

wow, so apart from the who, the chilis and apparently Placebo, it'll be pretty much exactly the same band for the rest of the weekend. franz-kaiser-sabian, snowplay and cold patrol. boring as ****. it's all the same. and woohoo, the whingey, boring as hell bell-end-1.

    bunch of arse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Rockee

I agree with you christopher...theres a lot of boring shít on at Oxegen this year. The Who may be 60 now...well whats left of them but they'll still show the young bucks how to do it, mark my words. Heres some footage of them back in '74, just sheer class. RIP Keith and John.
