The main stage line-up is looking rather blah (Apart from Sigur Ros), but it was the same last year. There were loads of other great bands though (Interpol, DFA 1979, Rilo Kiley, The Dears etc.) on the other stages. Let's just hope that it's the same this year. That said, I think it's the Electric Picnic all the way for me!

Aiken might try and bag SOAD for the metallica gig!!!

I'll probably go. Whats camping like? Anybody have any bad camping experiences?

Dave Fanning basically announced the Who are headlining Oxegen- then he said "oh, you're not supposed to hear that till Monday". Old news I know but pretty much official now.

I would love that but korn are the special guests so they wouldnt also have SOAD playin unfortunately.
    the most uninspired lineup ever.

Agreed. But then again the Strokes arent the worst(goin to see 'em on Monday) but not worth a whole weekend. I think the €145 tickets are last years prices so expect an increase to bout €160-€165 for campin. But with a lineup this depressin, i might try for Reading/Leeds, where rumoured headliners are Pearl Jam. Thats better than every act confirmed for Oxegen so far.

T in the Park sold out today with tickets only goin on sale this mornin aswell. Id say it might happen for Oxegen so it might force my friends to get Reading/Leeds tickets aswell

I was at Reading in 2000 and it was deadly... Defo Reading is a must for any serious concert goer... (Rage Against The Machine rocked!)

I have to say this year's oxegen lineup isn't that inspiring to be perfectly honest. The only band that I'd really want to see there are Sigur Ros. Seen them in the olympia in november 2005. The rest i've seen before and dont have much interest in seeing them again.

I doubt sigur ros will play the main stage. More likely the second stage or green room at night headline.

I'd been to all the witnness festivals and 2005 was my first oxegen and I have to say I wasn't that impressed. I had a great time with my mates and seen a few bands (Interpol) that I really wanted to see, but the camping experience was just over-run with groups of 17 year old knackers running around tanked on cheap cider... It just tainted the weekend for me, and the facilities on the campsite were crap..

I'm by no means an old fogie (25), but it'd take a hell of a line-up for me to buy an oxegen ticket again, as in The Beatles headlining...

    Over-priced mediocracy IMO.

€145 is still the price this year. Might only apply to 24/2 - 2/3 though.

I did see that but when the first batch of Oxegen tickets went on sale, they were last years price(€145). Im expectin a price increase of 10 to 15 euro. Hardly even worth it with the lineup.

Every year I was there I didn't see much outside of the campsite for the whole weekend so not too worried. Worth it for the Who. Not really interested in many others.
They are hardly going to increase the price they are advertising them at? They have all the details updated- times they go on sale etc so that must be the price.

Quoted because I say the same.

Why do you go then? Get a bunch of mates to go down to a field anywhere in the country with you, bring cans and camp for a weekend and you'll save yourself 145 euro.

yeh the camping experience has become increasingly worse over the years with more groups of younger people going and without much in the way of policing they just go mad and get smashed off there face's.

not helped by the incresingly commercial line ups that the festival is getting each year, the lack of any intelligent security and the fact that if your camping you dont have to get one of those permission things.

i think id should be asked for anyone that is bringing in drink and anyone under 18 should have drink confiscated, bit grannyish but it'll stop dickheads ruining it for everyone.

i think it will the picnic alround this year for a lot of people. as for SOAD at metallica i doubt they would. System could hold their own gig in the point and i'd say sell it out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 990 ✭✭✭mickymg2003

It would really suck if SOAD played the point. Dont like that venue at all.Wouldnt really like to see them at oxygen either.

Yeah - I've been invited (out of the blue?) to the press conference at 2:30. Not my field of journalism at all, but sure I'll go along anyway...

The presale starts on the 24th (net only) and tickets go on full public sale on the 3rd.

What isn't clear is the requirements to be included in the presale

-For U2 you had to be a fanclub member (€30)

-For Coldplay you just had to email and ask for a code

-For Snow Patrol you just had to be a Forum member.

    For Oxegen ????

Do you have a code / know how to get one?

EDIT: Also how can camping tickets be €145 - €160, surely they're all the same?

You pay more if you want to camp...

Weekend ticket with camping is about 20 EURO more expensive than a weekend ticket without camping. Then there are day tickets for each individual day...

You'll have no problems getting in... The ticket states that if you are under 16 (i think the age is) that you should be accompanied by an adult.

The Chilli Peppers had to be doing a festival as they hadn't included an individual date on their Euro Tour (Ireland being there biggest per capita sales market).........

who's touring as The Who these days ????
    might be interesting.......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,616 ✭✭✭ClareBear

That's made my mind up, definitely not going.

I'd probably go on the Sunday for Sigur Ros, as long as there were a few other decent acts to keep me busy during the day and assuming they don't get the 2pm slot or something equally ridiculous.

The Who would be interesting but not enough to get me there for two nights and have to worry about camping.
