Looking at the list so far, with one or two exceptions, I think the 80's pees all over the 90's when it comes to TV.

If the (I feel like) Chicken Tonight advertisements are allowed under the umbrella of TV shows then Pigheads going for that if its not then its a runaway success for Match of The Day (Des Lynam and Alan Hansen making men women and young adults tingle with excitement every Saturday night.
Wine em Dine em Lynam and Dancing Romancing Hansen the bestest duo since Dempsey and Makepiece.

    For me, probably Father Ted.

I have to agree with Fr. Ted not being one of my favs it was perhaps very overrated. No offence to the Late Dermot Moran but he could not act and yes he didn't get the best comedy from the series that when to Ardel O'H and Pauline McG). It always seemed toooooooo set up for me to enjoy as a comedy. (Now remember you don't press this to open the door you press this.)

    My shows from the 1990's

    Millennium
    The Practice
    ER
The X-Files (Up to the movie, then it just got very X-Fily)
    Freeks And Geeks (Had to)
Ab Fab (But it should have ended after series 3 or maybe even series 2)
Blackadder (except for the first series)
    Friends
    3rd Rock From The Sun
    That 70's Show
Animaniacs (Good Idea, Bad Idea. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? Ok love you bye bye)
The Den with Ray, Dustin, Zig and Zag
    Brisco County Jr.
    DFTG
    The End

    Loads more.

    Red Dwarf.

I know it started in 1987 but I only discovered it in 1996. That defines good 1990's TV for me.

I'm surprised Seinfeld hasn't been mentioned by anyone considering it was bigger than jebus back in the day.

Anyway, here's some of my fav's
    Batman The Animated Series
    Beavis and Butt-head
    Bottom
    brass eye
    Duckman
    I'm Alan Partridge
    Jackass
    Night Stand
    our friends in the north
    Oz
    Parker Lewis Can't Lose
    Popular
    Quantum Leap
    Seinfeld
    Star Trek TNG
    X-Files

Must check out that 'Freaks and Geeks' sometime. I never actually seen but it gets name-dropped so often it can be bad?

Another vote for Fr Ted. I also loved the early X files and most of the other shows that are listed above.

Come to think of it I watch far too much TV.

The X-Files (watched em all.. my kind of show, ran out of steam after a while and Duchovny got greedy, but Agent Doggett was cool too)

Father Ted (funniest comedy ever. all your mates would watch it and use the jokes from the episode)

The Word (cutting edge late night television, with some nudity and the classic "I'd do anything to get on television" bit)

Headbangers Ball (shown every Sunday night, the only place for rockers to get their fix - well before Kerrang! and well before it was trendy to be a rocker)

Dark Skies (cruelly cancelled after 1 season. great sci fi/conspiracy tale and seven of nine was in it ;))

The Simpsons (what can I say?)

    SledgeHammer (funny in it's day)

    As for the noughties?

    Errr... Lost.

Agree with the majority here and Father Ted and Simpsons are the best (still are).

Some other tv shows that spring to my mind (not mentioned yet I think) from the 90's are: (some good some bad)

    South Park (Yay)
    Ally McBeal (OK)
    Band of Gold (Yay)
    Cracker (Yay)
Ibiza etc. etc. Uncovered (Nay but watch it anyway!)
Sally Jesse Raphael (same as above)
    Jerry Springer (Nay)
    This Life (Yay)
    Queer as Folk (Yay)
    Game On (Yay)
Hollyoaks (Ok in 90's don't like it now)
    Darling Buds of May (Nay)
Soldier Soldier (Nay even though never actually watched it)
TFI Friday (OK depended on guests)
    Don't Forget Your Toothbrush (Nay)
    Harry Enfield & Chums (Yay)
    Royle Family (Yay)

    That's all for now.
