Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He's awful. We'd be better off sending the terrible twins back from last year.

We need to think outside the boundaries of the UK and Ireland.

Send a rock/metal band with an Irish twist. That's the only way we'll win this again.

But that's the whole point, the organisers don't want us to win it again, that's why thety keep sending such crap to represent us!

I didn't think you could participate if you were already established as an artist.

at the risk of being shot...

...Brian Kennedy is a great singer, one of the best traditional singers in the country imho

Why should we send some crappy rock band? - that isn't what we do. let's send a decent traditional singer, and at least be proud of listening to him...

nope.... just that most "established" artists wouldnt embarress themselves by doing it....

I would have agreed with you when it was judge voting (he'd probably win it), but with public voting, you need something mad.
    Dana International....
Those Zena Warriors from the Ukraine...

Eh Celine Dion, Abba, etc, etc, etc.......

Brian Kennedy's not that big. I'm sure a lot of other countries haven't heard of him before.

Just like we haven't a clue who most of the foreign singers are, but they're prob already massive in their own countries.

remember its a song contest not a singer contest.

ABBA, Dion, Clif Richard, etc all have taken part, the rule is that the song cannot have been released before, and can't be released as a single until 2 weeks before the Eurovision contest.

I got the impression that to win now you need yo have a glitzy show with sexy women. After all Turkey won with a rip off with a chakira song - how that was allowed is beyond me.

I'd suggest getting Michael Flately in singin my lovely horse..... :D

But they weren't famous when they sang in Eurovision. It's because of their victories that they're famous.

He wouldn't want you touching his mickey anyway, he's gay. :p

Anyway, let's not count our chickens before they hatch. He's a good live performer and if the song is at least decent, we might actually do well for the first time in years.

I don't know whether thats true or not, but its definitely not true for Katrina & the Waves who won in the mid 90s with Love Shine a Light.

You're right there, they had a hit with Walking On Sunshine didn't they?
But Katrina blames Eurovision for ruining her music career.
She co-hosted that 50th Anniversary eurovision show a few weeks ago that was on RTÉ.

And unfortunately You're A Star is back... just with a different prize at the end.
