It's Terrible!! How the **** did it get its own forum??!?! All it is, is a few jack asses who push a few buttins and let their computers conjur up some mindless thudding sound that is custom built for 'E' heads!!

Seriously, This forum should be abolished!

Ok, I get your point, you obivously don't like dance music, but are you blaming the music industy for people taking 'yokes' or vice versa?

Its not crap, there is a serious ammount of money to be made in the electronic music industy, it takes a lot of skill and many years of training.
Just wondering what type of music do you like?
I'll also leave the topic open in case others want to discuss it..

I hate dance music too, but **** it, some people like it, so leave them at it. This forum is here, it's not bothering you, just ignore it. I do :p

OJ - 'years of training'?? Rofl.

Fat Sunny - I know plenty of metallers that pop yokes and go to metal bars, so.......

    :)

No u don't. You are right, i don't like dance music, i despise it infact but my point is, is that it doesn't deserve its own forum and it is simplistic and easily manufactured music.
but are you blaming the music industy for people taking 'yokes' or vice versa?
Yes, I am. No dance music would mean less 'e' users.
Its not crap, there is a serious ammount of money to be made in the electronic music industy,
Theres serious money made in drug trafficing. Should it have its own forum?
it takes a lot of skill and many years of training.
"ok listen up, u push this button." How exactly can u stretch that over years?
Just wondering what type of music do you like?
Mostly rock, punk or irish ballads.

I don't know were you're getting the idea of "pushing one button to be a Dj" sort of thing,
DJ's don't use things like AtomixMP3,They may use computers from time to time, to add in beats and remix the song, but its not a one button thing.. hence, thats why you don't have lots and lots and lots (well maybe yea do, but I'm talking figures of millions) of brillant Dj's

It looks like this may be needed soon:

Sunny, you're doing your best to start a flame war with OJ aren't ya?? :p;)

    Was thinking that too seamus,
He doesn't like Dance music, hes entitled to make his sa.. but by the way he is going on by mega quoting, lol
What more can I do but be tempted to close this topic

I don't know were you're getting the idea of "pushing one button to be a Dj" sort of thing,
Just listen to the songs ffs, they are repetative, boring and if they did require any more than one button being pushed its a waste of kinetic energy.
DJ's don't use things like AtomixMP3,They may use computers from time to time, to add in beats and remix the song, but its not a one button thing.. hence, thats why you don't have lots and lots and lots
Remix? Cop on they just turn the RPM's on their record players up to 45 for them. So they need one button and a knob to change the rpm.

(well maybe yea do, but I'm talking figures of millions) of brillant Dj's
Brilliant DJ's? And how are they decided? By the way they scratch their ass after putting their records on? By the way they address the crowd in that god awful generic DJ "all royt its toym to gesh on the florr"

    Gimme a break!

Stop with all the quoting, I'm not even going to bother to quote you and have an answer up for them

*In voice of Tim the conjurer from Monty Python: "I WARNED YOU!"

    :p

Only a matter of time before this kind of thing comes along.
But it's actualy quite a good call on OJ's part to leave this thread open.
It's a very good topic for discussion.

    Anyway...
    "Fat Sunny"?
You say that it's all simply, and just press of the button?

Well, ever seen who drums with Basement Jaxx live?
    No?
It's Dave Herschheimer from Cradle Of Filth/Infestation/Obsidian. :p
Going to tell me he's a crap drummer now?

You know a lot of those bands actualy use REAL instruments.
    Take Moby for example.
All his stuff is created by 'real' means.
So is any Depeche Mode, KMFDM, Skinny Puppy and so on...

I'm getting the vibe that you're only thinking of the usual "Untz Untz Untz" tripe, yes?

There's much, much more than that irritant chart music ****.
I personaly doubt you'll find that many people here would actualy listen to that.
Which is also a good idea why they changed the name of the board to Dance/Electronic.

Hope this helps the subject a little.

I'm not a fan of the dance music scene either but i will admit there are some talented artists Moby being one of em, but i'm afraid the **** far outweighs talented dance music. Remember Manic 2000? Should have been called mangey knack

Personally I like most dance and will gladly admit that there is an awful alot of tack in circulation however there are alot of good dance artists.I take exception that dance music is only there for people to buy drugs and use them ok there is alot of drugs in use but isnt that an upward social trend as well?,i`m sure that the heavy metal or rap scenes are not exactly drug free?.

Anyways thats my two cent :)

It really irritates me to hear people slagging dance music. I personally love it. Its not just a person flicking a few switches to create a song. You have to be very talented to produce a quality tune. You obviously don't know very much about the whole dance scene and should stay away from it.

I hate rock music. I think they all sound the same an electric guitar and some drums drowning out a singer. All the same. So you know what I do? I stay well away from the phantom board.

Fat Sunny why don't you piss off. No one that comes to this board wants to hear from you. As for people taking E tablets, I've been offered them all over the place in town. Its a problem with the young scene in Ireland not the dance scene! Grow up

that the dubliner is saying, if you make generalisations about electronic music fans, it is the same as making generalisations about rock music fans!!!!11111111111111111.

    Try adding "in my opinion".
In my opinion, the dreadfulness of dance music IS fact.
I'm getting the vibe that you're only thinking of the usual "Untz Untz Untz" tripe, yes?
That is the target area of my hatred, yes.
but i will admit there are some talented artists Moby being one of em
Iwould not classify Moby as being strictly dance.
and dont class people who are into electonic music as 'E' heads!!

Sorry, you are right. It shouldn't just be 'E' heads. I forgot, speed, gear, ice and acid heads.
we could say the same about rock and associate the people that listen to it as goths or maybe sadist some of the rock out now is alot more head recking than any dance out!!
I would not try comparing dance to rock. If you look at any of the quality rock bands who have been around for years, had countless albums to their names along with world tours and who's members have more talent in their pubic hair than any of these "disc jockeys" who stick on a record and scratch their ass while shouting "oggy oggy oggy.... " into a mic.
I take exception that dance music is only there for people to buy drugs and use them ok there is alot of drugs in use but isnt that an upward social trend as well?,i`m sure that the heavy metal or rap scenes are not exactly drug free?.
They are not drug free, i'll giove you that but the music was not spawned from the effects of the drugs.
It really irritates me to hear people slagging dance music.
    Dance music really irritates me.
Its not just a person flicking a few switches to create a song.
I suppose they have to plug in the gear aswell.
You have to be very talented to produce a quality tune. You obviously don't know very much about the whole dance scene and should stay away from it.
Talent can be possessed in many obscure forms but putting a needle on a record?? I do know a fair bit about the dance scene to come to the assumption of how mind numbingly repetitive and unimaginative it is.
I hate rock music. I think they all sound the same an electric guitar and some drums drowning out a singer. All the same.
Gimme a break. Rock music being all the same ?!?!? And i suppose dance is an endless pick n mix of musical variety eh?
So you know what I do? I stay well away from the phantom board. Fat Sunny why don't you piss off. No one that comes to this board wants to hear from you.
This forum was created to discuss dance music and i am doing just that. I am just as entitled to my opinion as anyone else. Just a word of advice. To use the term "no-one" is stating in the favour of the majority which should not be done with out facts and statistics to back up.
    Grow up
Oh yes. I'll go and grow up eh? Maybe my musical tastebuds will mature to a state where "thud thud thud thud thud thud thud" is an appealing tune?
Drugs started off in the rock or roll era
But the music can still be enjoyed soberly which is more than i can say for dance music.

I have to agree with sunny on some things. Dance music is easier to create than people believe, and there should be no illusions about that. I do appreciate some Djs than can come up with a good beat, not standard 4/4 crap, something that has some thought put into it. But I'm afraid this quality is far outweighed by rubbish "untz" music. And one thing I can't understand is why do people listen to the crap stuff on headphones. It's not like theres much to dissect from most of the songs I overhear. I'd hate to have to listen to the same repeatitive crap for 20 mins, especially when it's full volume in my ear on a bus! Some DJs have no imagination, but credit to them as they probably get a lot of money for it.
