I think teenagers who hang around street corners are given a bad reputation as intimidating passers-by.
I used to hang around on the street with mates and we did nothing anti-social, we weren't loud, we were doing nothing wrong and still we were told to move on.

    But move on where?

Used to you're 15 for fecks sake?I'm 14 and have been hanging out on the streets all my life.People have told me to move on from my garden wall:confused: too bad my mam and dad realised that when I went out I didn't go anywhere except the park or street corners and know are trying to get me in early

Btw isnt there something that 6 or more is loitering and they should move on?Ive often seen 12 or more and they intimidate old people by making them walk out on the road.

If I look outmy window now i can see 27 14/15 year olds hanging around outside

Man, I remember when hanging out, sitting on a wall, doing nothing was a good night out. Those were the days, my friends, those were the days. I say why let the kids have all the fun, I'm going to go back to my old street corner hang out*.

*I may not actually do this

Maybe if some permanent clubs/discos were built in various areas... I know I'd prefer to go to a club than hang out on the corner.
€ is a factor too. We want free things.

I used to hang around on my street with friends, just sat on the wall of a private clinic(which was closed so we weren't really annoying anyone by being there) or kicked/threw a ball around.Pretty innocent stuff. Noone on our road seemed to care except one psycho who used to come out and tell us that we were keeping her kids awake, when it was common knowledge that she didn't have any kids.
I don't really see a problem with kids hanging around the roads or on greens as long as they're not p1ssing other people off by making loads of noise, harassing passer-bys etc.
Saying that though, it's not a problem in my area as there's no kids(old enough to hang around outside at night) living near by.

never really saw the point of hanging around a street at night when its cold, always thought being indoors would be a better opption....

We were real inventive as kids. We found a pig, killed it, pulled out its bladder , filled it with air then covered it in leather we made after we killed a cow. Them we invented, and played a game we christened "football".I belive there are many such activities that fall under this umbrella term that all the cool kids use. I believe it's called "sports". Funnilly enough, I dont remember being bored as a kid. All this during the eighties and before t'internet.

what's all this complaining about being moved on and not having anything to do? is standing on a street corner fun?

if you're THAT desperate for stuff to do either go to a park and play footie or help ireland's obesity issue and sit on your ass playing pro evo

What's the story with the attempt-to-stare-menacingly-at-passers-by thing that groups of teenagers seem to spend all day doing when propping up the wall?

That is one of lifes little mysteries... I think, though, that it could also be an outward manifestation of myopia... caused by trying to keep a sharp lookout for adults while engaged in petty acts of vandalism etc.

My god, if you're so bored will you just get some hobbies? There's a bit more to life than doing homework and hanging around in the cold on the street.

You're asking for things to be done to give you something to do but has it occurred that sometimes you have to entertain yourself? Not everything is going to be handed to you on a plate.

    Kids these days... *mutters*

See, back in my day, we didn't have these fancy games and toys that tell you how to play them. Oh no, we had rocks. Rocks and little twigs. And lego. Had to make our own games, oh yes we did. We called them Rock, Twig and Leg.

(Also: am I the only one who thought that this thread was going to be about prostitutes?)
