Hey guys, you'll have to wait until next friday. I wouldn't bother importing as it'll take ages and or be incompatible for multiplayer anyway. I know many have said the multi isn't a big deal but I'd far rather be able to than not ;)

No reasons confirmed for delay yet but I'll keep you posted.

Maybe this is so they can implement a version checker to ensure everyone is using 2.01 or higher - I've been waiting with baited breath to hear if this will be the case.
Homebrew is fantastic but if forced I'd choose to play GTA.

Think about it; I certainly doubt a week would be long enough to change info on a UMD. Doesn't make sense to me. Surely the GTA UMDs were in production long ago. I can't imagine them going straight from factory to shops so quickly. Regardless, I'd say it'd be cracked and available for UMD loaders (to those who legitimately own the game) if you want to play on an older firmware. May take a while but I reckon it'll happen.

this doesnt make sense. When san andreas was delayed, it was delayed for a week about 1 month beforehand, but what difference can 1 week make when it was meant to come out in 4 days time. Surely all the UMD's are put away in boxes ready to be distributed to europe

i really hope its not 2.01 or higher needed for this, what was the most recent game released in ireland for psp? and what version did it need as this would probably be the same as of course the games are all packed up, a week doesnt make that much of a difference does it?

Can anyone who knows about this sort of thing tell us how likley it is that it is being delayed to allow a firmware upgrade to be made nessecery. I would have thought this to be incredibly hard so close to the release.

I asked one of the bosses (editor of a major games website) and he didst say this, "Probably all this is is shipping but if they started this two weeks ago and just announced the delay now they could well have done the firmware update. The real question is, has 2.01 been around long enough for that to make sense."

Neither of us knew... nobody in the office could remember dates. The thrust, it may be within the boundaries of possibility but not likelihood. Boss seemed to think it could be done though.

Pity, thankfully the US date is still the same, so I can still grab it tomorrow :D

Looks like it's not delayed after all. Eurogamer may have got a little ahead of themselves.

    PWNAGE
Grand Theft Auto: LCS - Only on 2.00 Firmware

    Gtapsp2352351

After multiple emails from users confirming it, we are confident to post that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories will ONLY work on PSPs running 2.00 firmware. It will not work with SXT version changer, Fastloader, UMD Emulator, No Update UMD Starter, or any other version switcher / workaround type program. Looks like your only choice is to upgrade to 2.00.

Note: to upgrade to 2.00 we strongly suggest that you use our tutorial to upgrade instead of using a UMD or network update, as we are sure that you will be able to downgrade back to 1.50 using our method. To upgrade to 2.00, download the eboot [here], and use it with Sony’s instructions [here].

Keep in mind that you can still use the 2.00 eboot loader to run SOME homebrew on your PSP even with 2.00 firmware. You can check out the details of which homebrew you can run [here].

so u need to update. [APPARENTLY]
no way im updating. But i will have to eventually because i take it sonys gonna take this route.

    I'm not sure you've caught that... 2.0

Downgrade again whenever you want... it's as easy as a nice big cake. Jeez Placebo, don't make me do all the thinking ;)

Same as playing many UMD movies... upgrading for a week ain't a problem for me; and downgrading all over the place isn't either.

haha, yeah heard you could upgrade and downgrade, alot of hassel though..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

Mwa ha ha, never got around to downgrading, and I don't think it'll be happening any time soon :p

I would rather have GTA than Homebrew.

That people are prefering to lose homemade games to play real PSP games?

Do you really need to take a dig at the PSP lineup in every thread.

    haha yes.
homebrew games are awful but there are good homebrew applications being made nearly everyday and on top of that i like to have my games load faster and have more than 1 in my memory stick.

well said that man; unless there's a 3.0 out soon (because it'll take a major firmware change to mean games literally can't play games without an update) then we're fine. No problems :)
